Hi guys, i'm applying for IR1 visa, i have gone to the visa interview July, 2013. visa was denied, then turned in my i601 waiver, approved in early May, 2014, got the approval notice the week after that, then recieved this IV letter from Guangzhou consulate, telling me to mail them my passport, passport photo, new medical exam and police certificate through CITIC bank, did exactly that at the end of May, now i am just waiting to hear back from the consulate, anyone know how long does it take for them to issue my visa? thanks for the help!

it could be as early as 2 to 3 weeks or as late as 2 to 3 months..

if you have not done so already -

set up an account over at ustraveldocs.com/cn

and check out the passport tracking page over there - it gives some status for shipping out the passport

and

don't forget to keep checking CEAC web portal - on the day it flips to 'ISSUED' status - you should have your passport and visa packet within 3 weeks past that date.

Nota.Bene.: Since a tax-year has passed - it's a great idea to send along a new I-864 set showing tax year 2013 data plus current annual income for 2014. IMO - the folk missed that - but just in case they gave you a 'pass' on that doc requirement - it's still cool to send it...

note the 'updated date' -

each time you check it...

make a logbook of it...

when it changes to a date IN THIS MONTH - then someone has looked at it and 'ISSUED' status will be coming along shortly after.

Is the same true for my situation? Have been in AP for over 6 months. I now see CEAC status update date shows 30-May-2014.

ya - for now - it means a human is reviewing/working on the casefile

and IT SHOULD MEAN that it will be issued soon, barring further problems... If no further problems, then yes, I expect it to flip over to 'ISSUED' soon.

Hang in there - keep checking the site - and note the date/time stamps done for Guangzhou are actually CHINA local time, not any timezone in the USA.
