We applied for AOS back in December with biometrics in January. Our AOS appointment was scheduled for June 2nd, but we had to cancel and reschedule as Kasper had to fly home for a family emergency. A close family member had a significant stroke.

The interview was officially cancelled May 11th, but we haven't received anything about a future appointment. Does anyone know how long this might take?

If your spouse is active military member and will be deployed overseas then you won't have to reschedule aos interview, you can go alone for interview with necessary documents including your spouse's deployment orders. Edited by Super King

I don't know about timing of rescheduling but as you have cancelled it and made a request for a reschedule, you will be fine. Good luck and I hope you will hear about new date soon.

Yes, you have to show them your spouse deployment orders then they will take your interview without your spouse presence. I read here on VJ a month back that a woman wasn't allowed to go for AOS interview as her husband couldn't be with her due to deployment. Her hubby freaked out, he told her to go back to USCIS office next day, tell them about their mistake, so she did and she was allowed to have AOS interview and was approved on the spot and USCIS officials also apologize for their mistake, so you will be fine if your spouse is active military and deployed on the date of your AOS interview. Good luck to you.

Yeah that was me and my wife! I happened to just come across. Lol. I didn't freak out, I completely lost my shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. She went back the same day within an hour, not the next. She made them prove to her she couldn't do the interview then. They couldn't...because there was no reason for it, other than THEY didn't prepare ahead of time, so they used it as an excuse to turn her away.

True story! I think our situation was NOT the norm...but if it happens to you, don't let them turn you away as it's in writing on the USCIS website. I think you could reschedule and do so specifically citing the deployment if it's not a pressing thing to get it done...or go by yourself. Whichever is better.

In our case, we thought it was better she get it done on the original date, so we prepared nicely together and she got it done without me there.

Print this out and take it with you along with a copy of his orders: http://www.uscis.gov/archive/archive-news/questions-and-answers-members-military

This is noted as archived on the site as it's at least 5 years old, but still applicable.

You'll be completely fine...too easy. Good luck!

Lol yes I remember it was you. And sorry I didn't mean to say you were freaked out, I meant you were rightfully pissed off, in my defense English is not my 1st language lol.
