Lebanesemama - It makes me feel a whole lot better to know there are other married 22 year old moms out there. A lot of times I feel really stuck between my friends who are mostly still in college and doing that lifestyle and the older married people with kids - 'cus I don't feel like I fit in with either one!

I feel the exact same way. My friends are in college and all they care about is what their hair looks like, the perfect outfit and where they are going to meet guys. They say I have changed cuz I never want to go out with them. I say, yeah I have changed. First of all my husband is my number one priority. There is no way I am leaving him at home to go out with my friends on a regular basis (I'll only do it once every couple of months and it has to be a special event). Second, I am pregnant ! I can't dance, feel fat, all I want to do is eat and sleep and cannot stay on my feet long enough to straighten my hair. Oh and as far as the cute outfits ? HAHAHAHAHAHA. It's old granny maternity clothes for me (although I try to find cute ones ... but still I will never look 22 in them). Soooo my time is spent with my married friends with kids and my family cuz they understand me alot more than my friends in college.

As far as your dillema it's definately a Youssef thing. It's not a MENA thing. Sit down and have a talk with him ... and stop blaming everything on your hormones. Your entitled to have feelings. See what's up with him ... I have a feeling theres more to the story than you know. Oh and a mom of two should not be shoveling the snow alone. He does it and if you choose to help so be it .. but if you don't then it's okay.

Good luck girl (L)

You are welcome...one thing I can't stand is when men try to use that hormone - pms card on us. How they innocently say.."are you on your period?" I think you need to give you hunny a reality check!

So true, they think the PMS line can excuse their own stupid azz behavior. Uh, no.

You know when you get married , most of your friends tend to be married. When you have kids, most of your friends will be friends with kids. I don't know why it works that way but it does. When I got married 7 years ago, I lost almost every single friend I had because they just couldnt understand or accept the responsibilities I had at home. They literally just cut me off and I can't say that I made much of an effort after that. After that most of the friends I had were in serious relationships or married. I found it much easier to explain to them that I couldnt go to the mall because I had to go grocery shopping or whatever I was doing that day. I actually used to go on grocery shopping dates with a few girlfriends of mine and we would all buy our stuff at the same time.

This is all just part of your new life, you will still have some single friends for sure and that is when you really know who your friends are.

Very cold here but the sun is shining, yeah!!! We had so much rain over the weekend, but the big "arctic blast" didn't happen at the level they had in OKLA. One good thing . . . i didn't have to drive in to work as they said we could work from home.

I watched OCTOBER SKY on Saturday night . . . on USA channel, I think! I really liked that movie. Funny to see how Jake Gyllenhal went from being Homer in October Sky to the cowboy in Brokeback Mountain. I think he is a very good actor with very expressive eyes.

I am reading an interesting SCI-FI/Fantasy novel right now (one of a series, which I didn't know when I bought it, darn!): THE TRAVELLER by John Twelve Hawks. Very interesting concept dealing with people who are Travellers (able to go to different realms), the ones that defend them (Harlequins) from the groups that track them down to kill them (as a threat to the status quo) , o being on the GRID, current security requirements, invasion of privacy type stuff . . . conspiracy ideas that have come up thru biblical times, blah, blah . . . into our current state of affairs. Some of it sounds like a bit of hogwash, but some of it is quite interesting. The main protagonist is a young female, so that makes it even more interesting because these books are typically more male dominated . . . the usual fan base being more male dominated.

OK, I think I need to go do my expense report for last week.

You should definitely see Donnie Darko if you haven't already. Sounds perfect for you!

Ya know, I haven't seen that one . . . I think I'll put that on my list . . . I like offbeat movies . . usually the ones that no one else sees that play in art house theatres in the smallest room, hehe . . . but i haven't been going to movies as much as I used to.

My husband and I have been into anime recently. I borrowed some series from my brother's box-o-anime over the winter break. Love it all thus far :D

Hellsing - imagine a vampire manga(comic)/movie about england by a person who has no concept of what england or anglicanism is. That's what hellsing is.

RahXephon - Aliens take over Tokyo, all the inhabitants of Tokyo think that the rest of the world has been destroyed. The aliens have some weird dealio with music. I'm almost at the end of this, but the last 2 episodes won't play :crying:

Cowboy Bebop - Can't have an introduction to anime without this one.

10/14/05 - married AbuS in the US lovehusband.gif

02/23/08 - Filed for removal of conditions.

Sometime in 2008 - Received 10 year GC. Almost done with USCIS for life inshaAllah! Huzzah!

12/07/08 - Adopted the fuzzy feline love of my life, my Squeaky baby th_catcrazy.gif

02/23/09 - Apply for citizenship

06/15/09 - Citizenship interview

07/15/09 - Citizenship ceremony. Alhamdulilah, the US now has another american muslim!

Argh it snowed last night! Woke up and took the 3 year old to school on the icy roads, then made a stop at Wal-Mart for a shovel and baby formula - thrilling i know. Got home, shoveled the driveway and sidewalk while Youssef was inside in bed cuddling with the baby - yes I'm a little ticked at this. This is just a general question/comment/complaint - but is it a ME tendency or maybe Moroccan to be very private with people and your life. Youssef doesn't understand why people ask him questions and I think it's just a way of having a conversation being polite etc. He hasn't even told his friends that we had the baby yet and I think it's kind of weird and in a way hurts me..

LM you're just 22 too??!?!? Wow I thought I was the only baby here!

My husband's friends do not announce their wives pregancies until they are almost due, but once the babies are born they are proud fathers, sending pictures and showing the babies on webcam.

I do know in Egypt they stay tight lipped about a lot of things due to the possibility of harmful side effects of envy.
