Hi everyone! I just wanna ask how long does it take for the entire citizenship application process (if you'll file 90 days prior to 5years)? And how long will it take to upgrade f2a to Ir1 after the citizenship? My last question is how to upgrade a petition? Do we only need to call the nvc or uscis? Or are there forms and fees to upgrade? Thanks in advance

IF there's a derivative child in the F2A petition, once its upgraded to IR1/CR1, the child can no longer benefit from the petition. A new and separate i130 must be filed for the child.

Hi Mockingjay,

Based on recent timeline the the Citizenship process shout take about 6 months or less depending on where you live. My hubby is getting ready to apply too(we are hoping for August) and based of where he lives New York it should be about 6 months. In terms of how long the upgrade will take I am not sure but I am guessing a few weeks. You will mostly like have to send a copy of your US passport or N. Certificate to update your petition.

You can look at the processing timeframes for your local office on the USCIS website. Some local offices are faster than others (most likely due to demand).
