Address to send AOS Package and Police records questions

Hi everyone,

I have some questions regarding next steps in my process.

1- I have found 3 different addresses where to send the AOS package:

A- On James's shortcuts:

National Visa Center
ATTN: CMR
32 Rochester Ave.
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2909

B- Ling Che's shortcuts:

National Visa Center
ATTN: CMR
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 100
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

C- On the letter I got from NVC regarding completing Form DS-261. If I need to contact them via mail:

National Visa Center
ATTN: WC
31 Rochester Ave. Suite 200
Portsmouth, NH 03801-2915

So which one is the correct one? Would the correct address be the same to send the IV package as well?

2- Police records. I understand I need to submit the original police records in the IV package to NVC. Would I need the show the originals as well at interview time? As far as validity of police records, I lived in Canada until last year and I have a police record dated Aug 14, 2013. Would I need to get a recent one or the one from last year works?

3- Birth certificate. This question is similar to the previous one in regards to submission of originals. Would I have to show an original birth certificate for my interview? I only have one, which I will submit with the IV package. It is very difficult for me to get another original since I am currently not living in my country.

Thanks a lot for your input and comments.

When you print out the bar code cover sheet after paying the AOS invoice there will be an address on it. Send it there.

Thanks a lot for your responses. I realized about the address on the barcode later, duh!!! :)

NLR, do you know if NVC would take my Canadian police record from Aug 2013?

In regards to the birth certificate question, any comments or input?

Thanks again

If you left Canada before or less than six months after obtaining the police report, it will be fine. Otherwise, you'll need a new one for any interview scheduled more than 12 months after the issue date.

Anything sent to the NVC will be sent to the consulate as well. Send a photocopy and the original so that you get the originals back at interview. Make sure to request them if they don't when you go to leave.

So this is a tricky one. I meet the first part of your answer. I got the police record on August and left Canada in October. So I should be ok to use my current police record. Now, I am not sure if my interview will happen before August 14 2014 base on the second part of your answer. I am at the AOS stage currently.

Nonetheless, I have to travel to Canada for work in 2 weeks so I could request a new one while I am over there. Question: Could I submit my 2013 police record with the IV package and present a most current one for my interview?

Thanks again

You could try.

I suggest getting a new police record when you're there again.

That is what I thought, but I am not sure why, under the specific consulate requirements, they state that an original birth certificate should be presented. In your case, did you present an original birth certificate at interview time?

ALL the consulates say that.

My case is different because of Electronic processing. I didn't need to send my originals to the NVC and brought them with me to the interview.

however in every other non-EP case, you simply mail them to the NVC who sends them to consulate or embassy with the rest of the packages.

If you meet the first part, the second part doesn't matter. However, if you'll be there and can get a new one, I would do it.
