So then you would be fine with all AR-15's looking like the one in the pic below? I think if all AR-15's looked like the one in the pic, they would not be the weapon of choice in mass murders. I think the way a weapon looks is a huge deal for all gun owners.

People here are always saying they love to get people riled up...

Not me, personally, but is it nice to guess at or point out other's emotional states?

I just want to show how any type of discourse in the area is constantly trumped by the anger people bring with them. Are they here to make a point or ####### on everyone. That needs to be made more visible IMHO. My intent is not to be mean to them but to point out their tone at the on set of engagement.

And tell me why they are more dangerous than any other gun.

Not really. The reason they are illegal for big game is they have a light weight bullet that does not kill big game as easily or quickly. Same reason .22 are illegal for big game. However I am sure there are 50 laws for each state that vary.

Or kill them at all, so your example loon would be better looking at something with a bit more kill power. Something that would for example be better against body armour.

Are you agreeing that an AR-15 serves no other purpose than any other gun being sold does not already serve in regards to the general public? Comparing guns to any other inanimate object is a false comparison. The gun is the only object who's main purpose is to kill.

We've had these conversations a hundred times.Yes, the majority of gun murders are at the end of a handgun, not so much shotguns or rifles. But when you get the real looney that wants to inflict mass destruction in a short period of time, the gun of choice is the AR-15 or something very similar. We do not need them in public circulation for any legitimate purpose.

AR15s are the home build computer of the shooting world thats all. You can build them up from individual parts to suite your frame size, your tastes, your needs etc.

You may not realize this but a lot of enthusiasts do not go to stores and just lay down cash for an AR. They start with a lower receiver (the regulated part of the rifle) and go from there.

Also your use of the term "military style assault weapon" is a completely BS term that has been in use for only a few years and has no strict definition.

On a side note. the NRA issued a statement calling the open carry of rifles to Chipotle and other places as 'weird' and 'inappropriate'.
