Nailed it!

I really wish you gun enthusiasts would start comparing like items. Guns are killing devices, the rest you mentioned are not.

Btw Spooks, Jacque is waiting for you in the produce aisle.

So the comparisons are only valid if they suit your point of view? If you don't like something, then it's no good. If someone doesn't like something you do, they're crazy. Now that sounds like a Kennedy luv'in librul from MA.

So I just want to make sure I got this straight.

If we are talking about guns, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and we should not judge guns based on how they look.

But, if we are talking about people, if they look crazy, say, they are wearing a halloween costume or getting exuberant at a punk rock show, then we should judge them swiftly and lock them up.

You, I and everyone on this forum, know that the Poster was saying, that what we need to do is lock up the people that are committing the crimes and prevent the crazies from getting guns. He then posted some pictures, as satire, of some individuals that looked rather bizarre, I am sure you will admit.

No one advocated locking anyone up with out due process, no one advocate locking up anyone because of the way they looked. This kind of twisting ,manipulating and absurdity is why we can't have serious gun debate in this county.

Mot gun owners i know believe in the Constitution, and the rights it bestows on all people. Unlike most anti-gun people I believe in Civil liberties for all people, no matter if I find their behavior within my own norms or not. I am huge believer in due process, and a fanatic about the 4th Amnd, which I think gets trampled on. i support rights period. I don't think you should have to specify which rights you support. You should support them all, Civil rights, gun rights, the rights of gays, the rights of a woman in regard to her own body etc. Rights guaranteed under the constitution are not a cafeteria section, they are for all.

Some of them are children. Do we punish them because their parents brought them here? What about the Pilgrims? Are they criminals as well because they came here and straight took this land from the folks that lived here.

I never get the History argument, you have to deal with the situation as it is.

It is a numbers issue.

If you let in just 1% of the current US population in every year that would double the US population in less than the lifetime of someone born today.

1% represents 10 days of worldwide population increase. So pretty insignificant.

The US needs to reduce its greenhouse gas production, its carbon foot print, how do you do that by doubling its population?

Europe has the same issue, there are 800,000 waiting in North Africa to cross. If you let them all in what about the next 800,000? And the next and the next....

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Couldn't you get just as much enjoyment from owning a Chihuahua instead of a German Shepherd? Or driving a Smart Car instead of a truck? Or eating rice 3X a day instead of having meat and other goodies? Maybe no oral sex and just traditional man on top missionary position sex?

and Just think how much good it would do if we could ban all vehicles that get less than 35 mpg.. I mean really couldn't going down the road in a Prius get you there the same as in a mustang GT 500

Exactly. Any vehicle that gets less than 35mpg exists soley to waste our precious natural resources.

I wish you would have compassion for the dead people that get killed by the crazies

Who said she doesn't? I wish YOU would be specific about what YOU mean lost. What do YOU define as "crazy" and what do YOU want to do with people deemed to be "crazy" under your definition. Specifics please. I want everyone to hear what YOU think about what crazy people are and what we should do with them.

Didn't they successfully ban assault weapons in Australia? Why not do what they did?

They went much further than California. I believe they have a full semi-auto ban.

As to other people's comments that modern firearms are better killing machines and do not require marksmanship…the only rifle I can think of like that is that 20k sniper rifle that digitally lines up the shot.

I would argue that since Hiram Maxim and Browning entered the scene, we entered the modern era of firearms. IE since late 1800s early 1900s.

Hey, Dave doesn't look crazy. Give him a break!

I do, everyday!

Please explain how a gun compares to a dog. What similarities do they have?

I think they banned semi-autos as well.

Antique or non-modern firearms are anything older than 1898 i think? The pawn star guy only buys antiques because he doesn't want to deal with a dealer license or something. So he can only buy/sell guns made before 1898 or around that time. I always thought that was the cutoff point.

The government DOES set MPG standards in the US for NEW cars and that is a good thing. Auto manufacturers would not make these changes if not forced. And we the consumers benefit as a result.

It's an example I've chosen, so it's as valid as yours. You just don't like mine. That's the way it is with you America hatin' anti-gun nuts.

No, it's really not, but I'm not going to argue with you.

If I didn't know any better, I'd say you might just be a gun aficionado. :P
