Are you agreeing that an AR-15 serves no other purpose than any other gun being sold does not already serve in regards to the general public? Comparing guns to any other inanimate object is a false comparison. The gun is the only object who's main purpose is to kill.

We've had these conversations a hundred times.Yes, the majority of gun murders are at the end of a handgun, not so much shotguns or rifles. But when you get the real looney that wants to inflict mass destruction in a short period of time, the gun of choice is the AR-15 or something very similar. We do not need them in public circulation for any legitimate purpose.

I think the looks of the AR-15 and similar weapons play a big role in it being the gun of choice of the mass murderer. It's like they're playing out some sort of fantasy when they go on these rampages and the looks of the AR-15 fits right into their mindset of death and destruction.
