Ok, I'm open minded on this issue. Please explain to me what purpose the AR-15 serves the average gun owner that can't be served by any other guns already being sold.

To fill what void. It is basically just a Semi-Automatic rifle. Nothing less nothing more.

It took 15 pages to finally get it out of you NB, but at least you gave it up. That makes two, you and Darnell. Boiler with the 5 word sentences won't be able to spill it though, it's too many letters.

Yeah yeah, we get it. 6 and done though. I'd also go out on a limb to say it takes a skilled guy to accurately use that gun at that speed and those are rearly the guys you gotta worry about.

Do you guys think its easier to hit something (one shot) with a pistol or a conventional AR-15?

Like anything it needs practice and judging from some people I have seen shooting then the chances of them hitting anything they aim at is low.

I would be more accurate with a Rifle normally, in a home defence situation I would think the pistol would be better, more mobile.

The one thing I am certain of is that being hit by that .357 Magnum from the Pistol is going to cause a lot more damage than a bullet from an AR.

I can spell spill.

4 words

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

But what you guys fail to see, is that it rallies guns rights people and makes middle of the road people that would otherwise favor sensible reform, rise up.

Why because it makes zero common sense to ban an AR-15. It is just a rifle, nothing more nothing less with no more capabilities than your other avg rifles.

So just what problem would banning AR-15's solve. Sure would not have saved the 33 dead at VA Tech

Here are the facts

The vast vast majority of Ar-15 owners are lawful citizens who never hurt a flea

The AR is not the weapon of the Avg street criminal and that is where most of the gun crime is taking place

AR-15 's accounts for almost an un measurable percentage of Gun Deaths in this country

Glock handguns were the weapon of choice for the deadliest mass murder in US History

Hand Guns kill the overwhelming majority of people and a large percentage of those owned by people that on them illegally

I think that you meant to say legal gun owners, not just AR-15 owners.

So then for home defense we can all agree a pistol is the best bet?

So why does someone need an AR-15? What's the point and why is it the end of the world if its doesn't exist anymore. I know it doesn't solve everything.

I prefer horseshoes at 40 feet with an ice cold beer.

Tough for a headshot with a horseshoe at that distance. If you target isn't drunk enough, they can duck and it's a miss.

Why does anyone want a Mercedes? BMW? Lexus? A Camry is suitable for all.

What's best for home defense is whatever gun you have in your hand when it is needed.

Since this is the new, politically correct, go to extremes to make sure you don't offend anyone VJ, you meant to say," Well, I suppose a bazooka is better than nothing, but it's still not a good idea it's not available for public purchase, IMO." Otherwise you're just speculating and we can't have that anymore.

I do not have a gun for home defence, I have my dog who would lick any attacker to death.

It depends and I do not believe there is one answer.

A lot of people would go for a shotgun, in a lot of US built houses over penetration can be an issue.

I have shot a .357, big kick and a lot of flash, I think it is a round that you would need to be comfortable with, shoot regularly, it is also I think quite expensive.

Obviously it is a lot bigger than a.223 coming out of an AR 15 and you can also get it in Home Defence rounds, hollow points, that expand and make an even bigger hole. It was I believe the original one shot stop round before they developed bullets.

Of the ones I have fired I would go for a 9mm pistol and Carbine combination,

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Good call. That's what I meant. Or it was satire. Either way.
