Fear generally equals ignorance. We should NOT be writing laws based on ignorance.

I believe that's the point I was trying to make, hence the dog references. The other part of that point is that it seems that a lot of gun owners prefer to have that fear and actually build on it, rather than help people understand it. In other words some gun owners are part of the very problem they fight tooth and nail not to have.

I see no evidence of this.

Depends on if its been spayed or neutered.

That would explain why guns are not adopted.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

We have spent several pages trying to make you understand there is no reason to fear an AR-15 any more than a Handgun,Shotgun or other rifle.

You want to take my gun based on nothing more than the way it looks. Who should fear whom

No, you've spent several pages discounting legitimate reasons why a lot of people fear the weapons you own, not to mention they don't have a favorable view of gun owners in general. Rather than try to have an open minded discussion, everything I have brought up has been deemed invalid and mocked. I have answered your questions and given you input, I can't make you believe that people view gun owners in this way. But you and the others have basically proven my point as to why they do. If you refuse to accept that, it's your choice.

Where is it that you go and see all these fearful guns?

I don't fear guns. But as for the where, try the evening news, about twice a month for you latest mass killing and the weapons of choice.

Rather than me being blind, I suspect you are looking through glasses of fear. You've stated so already.

Well man, you've just about hit my limit of garbage for one thread. Have a great day.

Humans are irrational a lot. Doesn't mean the govt. should go around passing laws and making policy based on that. They seem to do it all the time though. I say go for it! Make the scary looking weapons illegal. I bet it doesn't change a thing when it comes to these mass shootings. The most recent nut used a pistol I believe.

I'd be more scared of the german shepard as it has the highest capacity for destruction. Plus, I could just step on the little guy. AR-15's scare me more because of their capability. Rapid fire is just not necessary for most gun owners. That's why most gun owners don't own an AR-15.

Most are semiautomatic and not rapid fire. (there is a gimmicky product though that allows you to 'bump fire' by using a sliding stock - its illegal in a few states, but hasn't been used in an attack)

What's the point go having it? Is is just the gimmick? The fun of shooting? Selling for a profit (cus I know a guy that was buying Ar-15's and the part with the serial on it to sell)?

I mean I know some folks think you need to have an arsenal for the apocalypse or whatever but that opinion means little to me.

Most of the murders I see on my evening news are done by people using hand guns and the odd stabbing/beating
