It's weird that none of this was mentioned in the Obama press conference yesterday.

Face it: the preznit needed any kind of good news to show the public, regardless of what it cost, what laws he had to break, and how he had to 'spin' it. Especially with the VA scandal currently weighing on him, a visible 'score' in the military sphere was quickly orchestrated by his aides, and at great cost to US military and consular workers around the world.

Typical.

No-one's not happy he's back (including the Taliban, who clearly got the better part of this deal). As I say though: as a result, kidnappings will escalate, because kidnappers have seen how successful it's been with this feckless preznit.

Exactly.. +1000000

You don't mean it's weird, you mean I can't believe he did it again

Unless they decided our little captee is worth more if he was with us.

5 years of captivity could have well exposed him to some kind of information. I see a lot of questions being thrown at him and torture if he doesn't give up the necessary information.

The Prez could not have pulled this off on his own. You guys are giving waaayyy too much credit to what a Prez can do.

I am saying you guys are completely forgetting about the people who backed this plan and executed it. He didn't look the Taliban up in the White pages under the Business section of terrorist and hostage negotiation and call them.

There was somebody telling him this was important to do, somebody had to approve of it and execute it. He was not alone.

I'm not saying he flew the helicopter to pick the guy up. He did however sign off on this. He had to because they did an end around on congress. As I've stated before I think Obama has been a pretty foreign policy president, but he screwed up big time on this one, based on the information so far.

Regardless, I see this one little incident having far reaching reprecussions. It basically sends the message "Kidnap an American soldier and trade him for 5 of your terrorist buddies down the road" ALthough I have doubts whether this guy was even kidnapped since he took off from his base on his own.

Maybe, maybe not. We shall see.

I am a little in doubt over if he was kidnapped or not too.

He is commander in Chief. Everybody in the Military works for him. The Charmin of the Joint Chief of Staff reports to him

All it takes is a commie adviser, to brief him, Hey Mr. President, we got an America hating deserter, being held by the Taliban. It would be great press to trade 3 high level America hating terrorist to get him back. Great photo op. Mr. President rings up the head of the joint chief. make it happen

So I should be made at a General for executing his oath of office and following a legal order from the Commander in Chief ??

Couldn't be that. it has to be some conspiracy between Obama and the Taliban to release a mole into our midst. Nothing else could possibly explain this incident.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

There is some speculation in the UK press that he was working undercover for the gov.

And you are getting probably close to the truth. I kinda doubt this guy was doing that, but I bet there is a black op, behind all of this and probably something much deeper, is the reason the 3 guys were released.
