It seems to me by the above posts that a few soldiers lost their lives because of this guy's willful actions. Now add to that this "prisoner swap" for militants who will surely go back to Afghanistan

ie - 5 of the biggest taliban's taliban in Gitmo combined with a converted to Islam USArmy soldier held in 'captivity' for 5 years who was labelled as a deserter, twice.

so - lets see what ol Marco will spew and get done this week. sure - it's a short week, but he has time and staff. [competent staff, at that ! ]

The deal to free Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl in exchange for five Taliban detainees held by the U.S. military nixed a broader effort by the Department of Defense to include other U.S. citizens held by the Taliban and its allies, according to a top congressional aide.

The Department of Defense had a “broader goal” of including Caitlan Coleman of York , Pa., her baby who was born in captivity and her Canadian husband, Joshua Boyle, in a deal to free Bergdahl, said Joe Kasper, chief of staff to Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., who sits on the House Armed Services Committee.

Among Americans held captive is Warren Weinstein, a contractor from Rockville, Md., who was abducted in 2011 in Pakistan and is detained by al-Qaeda militants aligned with the Taliban.

“The DoD was looking at this in the whole scope of things, to deal with these people as well,” Kasper told USA TODAY in an interview Thursday. “Instead of five for one, why not five for five?"

This no longer looks like bad-faith negotiating; now it looks like the administration was deliberately trying to 'give away the farm'.

And an uncharacteristically diligent Time magazine informs us that (surprise!) negotiating with terrorists encourages terrorism! Who knew?!:

A Taliban commander close to the negotiations over the release of U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl told TIME Thursday that the deal made to secure Bergdahl’s release has made it more appealing for fighters to capture American soldiers and other high-value targets.

“It’s better to kidnap one person like Bergdahl than kidnapping hundreds of useless people,” the commander said, speaking by telephone on condition of anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the media. “It has encouraged our people. Now everybody will work hard to capture such an important bird.”
