From what I have read here, it is a waste of time. I'd rather focus on the marriage thing and start process for that.

I just can't believe USCIS has no influence on the visa issuance at all. it makes it so not fair considering that most of the countries’' immigration and other documentation system are so messed up and as a result it affects US system too. ugh

Well, that's true... The USCIS part is to make sure you ale eligible for the petition approval -3 simple things.

But the consular part is to have you prove bona fide retaionship. And those guys are apparently not so trustful.

Wait4ever - any updates? How is the rest of the process moving along?

We've got all of the docs ready and just waiting for our case to be shipped to Tbilisi so we can schedule the interview. This wait is killing me :) I am not a patient person to begin with and waiting for so long...I just hope that there will be no issues at the interview (knock on wood, knock on my head, spit over my shoulders, keeping fingers and toes crossed, lol). Will definitely keep you posted.

I thought you have to pay for the visa first and then with the slip # you can get into certain embassy web page and choose the interview date. Is it not the way you will be doing it?

Great news! The case is there!

I thought you have to pay for the visa first and then with the slip # you can get into certain embassy web page and choose the interview date. Is it not the way you will be doing it?

The process is slightly different for Azeri citizens since payment must be done in cash only at a Georgian bank. So my fiance will fill out DS-160, get the receipt number and will schedule the interview. He will arrive one day earlier in Tbilisi and will pay the fee at the bank there.

Interview is scheduled for Sept. 17th. He spoke to the embassy and they told him that he can pay the visa fee there.
