I have a question regarding joint sponsorship? my husband a USC is unemployed . we found a joint sponsor that made $33000. He has a household size of three. my question is does he qualify? should we go ahead and file the forms using the 125% guidelines, if not how much does one have to make to qualify as a joint sponsor. Any one with any knowledge on this please help.

hi

three including himself? then it will be for 4, he needs to include you as well as the beneficiary. Even if your husband is unemployed he files an i864 as sponsor and the other person files an i864 as joint sponsor

yes he does qualify. for 4 people, the minimum is close to $30K you can check out the i864P (Poverty Guideline form) on the uscis.gov website

www.uscis.gov/forms and find the i864P

The household size without you, as the intending immigrant, is 3 or with you is 3? Who is being counted in the household size? Either way, even if you need to add yourself still for a household of 4, he makes enough. > http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864p.pdf

Hi all, thank you for your help.

The household size including me will be 4 people. I was just a bit confused about this, I had legal advice from an immigration lawyer who had told me that the joint sponsor needed to make around $35K to qualify. So I needed a second opinion because it did not make any sense, since I already checked the USCIS web and new that this person qualified on the %125 guideline, I thought I was crazy, not that I doubt his expertise I just didn't understand. should I follow his advice or I go ahead?

Any suggestion will be helpful

Thank you.
