Hello Friends,

Just the made very silly mistake. The payment of $340 was made to U.S. Department of Homeland Security but I endorsed/signed the back of money order in error. The application was received on 05/28/14. Form G-1145 was attached and notification of file receipt has not been received. I sent an email today to Lockboxsupport@uscis.dhs.gov notifying them of the error and requested what steps I need to take. I also plan on calling the National Customer Service Center on Monday at 800-375-5283. I also contacted my bank (J.P Morgan Chase) and they informed me any rejection of the money order will be done by the banking institution for U.S. Department of Homeland Security. I can also contact J.P. Morgan at periodic intervals to obtain status of money order.

What is done is done. Now, time to determine what are the consequences and what actions I need to take.

I'm curious if the payment be automatically rejected because I endorsed the money order in error? If yes, I have a exact copy of file with original signatures. I'm ready cancel the previous money order and resend the file.

Any additional guidance/insight you can provide is sincerely appreciated!

Thank You!

I worked for banks for more than 10yrs and I think you will be ok.., since is a "business" they can still deposit the money order with a stamp that most business use in this situation "For deposit only"

Your signature can be voided by this stamp because the money order is payable to the USCIS no to you... Worst case cenario they'll returne the package to you to resend a new money order.

At this point I don't think you will receive an acurate answer and you case has not being received yet.

Good luck!!

Illiana&Amaury....Thank you very much for your insight!

My only concern was that money order would be automatically become void because of my endorsement. I contacted my bank and spoke with a teller to get a better understanding of how money orders work. She confirmed exactly what you indicated. My signature does not automatically void out the money order which would result in rejection of my application. Hoping for the best case scenario and preparing for the worst case scenario. Regardless, I will update the forum on the outcome.

Well mistakenly I sent my 230.00 money order blank. They just took it and filled it out thank god, but maybe they would put a line on your name and sign it.....I dunno because I was lost after the postman drove away with the money order..... just like I begged them to accept the money order.....maybe they can work something out...

Also cause it took I think 4 days to cash out, just keep calling your bank to see if it was cashed. You can never specifically get to the exact person you need. Finally, just like they couldnt answer me about cashing the money order. I just kept calling money gram to see if it was cashed and it was
