AtariBaby - Just to clarify, is the letter/document you are referring to that shows an extension of the status for one year that also states it's okay to work and travel - is it the NOA1? Or is it the biometrics appointment letter?

My husband and I wish to travel to Toronto, Canada at end of Sept for my sister in law's wedding but we are not sure if it's safe for my husband to travel since his green card expires beginning of Sept and we may or may not get the approval of the removal of conditions on residency by then.

Thanks in advance for clarifying! Appreciate it!

Nurseviv,

Here's what is said within the I-751 Receipt Notice, I-797 NOA1 document. You will be safe for work and travel for up to one year after the green card expiration date.

Hi yes, it's the "NOA1". The Biometrics letter is a second letter that you get commanding you to the appointment. The first "Notice of Action" states in one of the paragraphs that your green card is extended for an additional year, and that you may work and travel. It says to keep the letter with your green card. I would urge making a photocopy or scan for records, just in case it gets lost.

Thanks for the clarification AtariBaby! Really appreciate it! :)

Thanks Dustin C for your clarification as well! Best wishes to everyone in this process! Cheers! :)

Hi Everyone!

Please let me know what you think of my documents. Any insight? suggestions?

- cover letter listing the documents and signed by my husband, the USA citizen and petitioner

- form I 751 properly filled and signed by both of us.

- money order of 590 dollars

- copy of my passport and green card.

- copy of our rent lease

- recent stock statement

- copy of employee stock purchase plan, with my name as a beneficiary

- my husband's W2 forms

- copy of joint checking account statements

- my husband earnings statements

- copy of insurance card and coverage

- healthy insurance card with my name as beneficiary

- copy of mail from our dentist with the same address

- copy of our 2012 and 2013 joint tax return

The tax returns need to be tax transcripts downloaded from the irs website or other means. Is that what you have? Be sure the Green card is scanned on both sides.

12/24/2010 I proposed. She accepted and stayed.

02/25/2011 Married!

03/19/2012 FINALLY submitted the AOS paperwork: I-130, I-485, I-765, etc.

03/23/2012 Received notification that USCIS has received everything.

03/26/2012 Biometrics Appointment Notice: April 23, 2012.

04/02/2012 NOA's received. Now we wait...

04/23/2012 Biometrics completed.

05/18/2012 EAD card mailed but not yet received.

06/06/2012 Rough interview but we think we're approved! Website says i485 status "Card Production".

06/12/2012 We received the "Welcome the United States" letters! Website says Green Card was mailed.

LIMBO: Green card lost in mail. Facing the possibility of paying hundreds in fees and basically repeating the entire process.

All good now! USPS lost it, then found it.

04/24/14 Back to VJ to get help with I-751, Removal of Conditions.

05/31/14 Mailed I-751 finally, with less than a week to deadline!

You might wanna add 2 to 3 affidavits sworn to or affirmed by at least two people who have known both of you since your conditional residence
was granted and have personal knowledge of your marriage and relationship.

Since the USCIS web site doesn't mention that it has to be downloaded from the irs website, I am sending copies of the tax returns, exactly as I received from my accountant, all the pages.

Hey friend, I urge you to get the official transcripts from the IRS website or from your accountant. You can also call and get them faxed to you. It's worth waiting for.

I read where one member said he sent in returns and a pretty flimsy package and made it through and got approved. But the consensus here is if you sent in just printed tax returns, you will get an RFE (Request For Evidence). Don't take my word for it, ask in the main thread. If I was you, I would get that before you send. But good luck and please come back and post the results, either way.

I can't imagine that's an issue. It is however important that it was made out to "US Department of Homeland Security" and not an abbreviation, or so we're told. I used a USPS money order both times and I don't even recall what I put in "From".
