On the I-864 and I-864A, my co-sponsor and his household member own real-estate assets, but they don’t want to bother with getting them appraised and they also have enough in liquid assets so they will not report them on the forms. Since they actually own these assets but will not use them on the forms, is it better to write “$0” or “N/A” in the blank space for real-estate assets on the forms?

Just called NVC to tell them 30 days waiting for IV Fee Invoicing nearly end since May 8. They said 30 BUSINESS days, so have to wait another 2 weeks. Now I hate the whole process of this journey, but no other choice :(

It should not be a prob, I sent only 2013 also and it got accepted. You should take all 3 years to the interview though, just in case.

I only included my 2013 transcript and I didn't even give them 2012 or 2011 income and mine was approved no problem..

We only included 2013 tax transcript...so I think you will be Ok.

Great! I'll just include my partner's 2013 tax transcript only to make is less confusing (and to reduce any possibilities of writing the wrong amount and getting a checklist)!

In this case, I'm writing "N/A" for the Tax Year and Total Income for the question 13b, 13b1, 13c, an d 13c1 on I-864 form since I'm not attaching the 2012 and 2011 tax transcripts?

Hey Lakehouse - I was just saying that I'm going to make another trip to Vietnam. I just can't decide whether I could attend the interview with my wife or wait until she has gotten her visa and fly to Vietnam at that time so that she and I can fly back to the US together. hahahaha!

I can take 3 weeks off from work, and from what I've been seeing on people's timeline, it takes about 10 days to get visa. If I time this correctly, I can make the interview plus we can fly back together! What does everyone recommend?

Bruins, have you made sure the Consulate/Embassy will allow you to attend the interview? Some countries allow the USC to attend and some don't. That might make a difference in your timing.

Our attorney told us that the Embassy/Consulate usually does like the USC to attend, if possible. It shows that the marriage is "more real" for some Case Officers. I guess if the USC cares enough to pay for an airline ticket, it looks better.

Hi all,

I'm trying to pull together documents for the IV packet, and have a question that I have not been able to find specifically addressed on visajourney. If anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate input.

My husband is from Venezuela, and still residing there, so the embassy will be Caracas. Alejandreska pointed out to me that the embassy website says that birth certificates for Venezuelans are required to have an apostille from the Venezuelan government.

However, nothing in the information about sending documents to NVC mentions apostilles. Do we need to get a BC with apostille now, to include in the IV packet, or is it only necessary to take to the interview? I asked an operator at NVC, and she said it would need to be sent to them, but I'm not sure she completely understood what I was asking. The information on the embassy's site is all under the category of "what to bring to the interview".

I will try to call the embassy tomorrow to see if they can tell me more, but I was really curious if anyone else had any ideas on this? I did see someone claiming that the NVC does not require apostilles for any documents, but I don't know if that's accurate? Thoughts anyone?

Thanks!

When filling out the I-864, if you have a joint sponsor, you can only report the beneficiary’s income and assets on either the main sponsor’s I-864 or the joint sponsor’s I-864, right? So, for the I-864 which we DO NOT include that money on, do we write “$0” for those values or “N/A” for those values?

On the I-864 and I-864A, my co-sponsor and his household member own real-estate assets, but they don’t want to bother with getting them appraised and they also have enough in liquid assets so they will not report them on the forms. Since they actually own these assets but will not use them on the forms, is it better to write “$0” or “N/A” in the blank space for real-estate assets on the forms?

If not mistaken you don't have to have your property appraised all you have to do is go to the country office, not sure of the appropriate name and get what the property is appraised for now. They give you the papers right away I know because my father did this and we will be doing it again tomorrow. It's easy doesn't take very long at al. :)(F) (L) (F)

If only the following proof of marriage would suffice for CIS/CO/CBP:

Saudi Arabia still would not allow a Moslem lady to cross its borders without what they call an adult "Mahram" accompanying her, which might be a husband, a son, a father, a brother, ...etc. Decades ago before the country got modernized and ID docs were issued to the population, the only proof required of such a relationship was if the concerned lady would consent to be kissed by her Marham in front of the border officer. A mere peck on the cheek!

I'm just curious... Is it an established fact that fixed assets are acceptable for AOS purposes? My case is exempt from AOS, so I never researched it. I know lenders would insist on income, even if you own your house outright.

They are acceptable, but you have to have some kind of income like Social Security or some kind of private retirement program, job, then the assets can make up for what is not covered with your monthly check but I don't believe you can do this with just assets. Not 100% sure. (F)(L)(F)

Congrats to all CC's .

I am waiting for a case # so i am starting to gather my papers. ( I have printed Saylins WIKI and i read it every night before i sleep. My temporary bible :wow: )

I am going to do the 864 EZ . I have filed taxes for 2012 and 2013 (1040) I received the tax transcript for 2013 .

2011 unemployed therefore i will put 0 . correct ?

2012 & 2013 i will put whatever # is on line 22 on the 1040 correct ?

Last question .

Since i was unemployed 2011 and do not meet the poverty line (of 4 members) on 2012 but over exceed the poverty line on 2013 and my paystubs this year almost reached the amount required so far . Do i have to have a joint sponsor ?

If not mistaken you don't have to have your property appraised all you have to do is go to the country office, not sure of the appropriate name and get what the property is appraised for now. They give you the papers right away I know because my father did this and we will be doing it again tomorrow. It's easy doesn't take very long at al. :)(F) (L) (F)

I was told in another thread that you do need to get a current professional appraisal done. I was also told that they will not accept property that is currently being lived in by the sponsor as the primary residence. My joint sponsor does own an apartment building that is separate from his home. However, as it stands now, my joint sponsor combined with his household member have a current household income that exceeds the poverty line for their household size. In addition, they already have over $300,000 in liquid assets that they are reporting, so it seems to me that it is unnecessary to include the real-estate on the I-864. I worry that if we include it without the proper documents, we will get a checklist (for something we shouldn’t technically even need according to the criteria.) What do you think?
