Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read through my story! I really appreciate the feedback :luv:

Engaging and beautifully written.

The 'process' is way too difficult to try and explain, even to loved ones. You captured the discomfort, lonliness and joy of the journey.

VJ has not only been invaluable, but also a great source of comfort.

Hi Saylin,

I have IRS transcripts for 2010,2011, 2012. My income comfortably meets the threshold and I will have a job letter. I want to file 2013 tax returns jointly when my wife arrives.

Will NVC create an issue regarding this?

Thank you for all of your help

you will need proof of your tax extension but the embassy or consulate may still have an issue and demand that your taxes be done.

Remember you can always amend your taxes after your wife arrives.

You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself any direction you choose.  - Dr. Seuss

Hi guys,

I have a quick question.

My case is currently at NVC. I am going to relocate next week to a different state,

Do I have to send an email to NVC to change my address at their end or just call them and change it?

Moreover do you think changing the address with NVC will give me "wait for 30 days " thing again or not? Or is it better to have it changed when it reaches the embassy?

Your opinions will be highly appreciated.

thanks.

Are you the petitioner or beneficiary?

If you're the petitioner, you don't have to do anything. If the DS-260 has not yet been submitted, then your new address can be entered on it when it is filled out.

Thank you Ryan for replying

I am the petitioner and have already submitted the ds 260 form last month so it has been locked.

So I don't have to call them and have my address changed ?

You have 3 options:

  • Call the NVC to inform them of this change and see if they will re-open the DS-260 so this edit can be made.
  • Have your spouse inform the of the change at the interview.
  • Have you spouse inform the CBP officer at the POE of the new address so the green card will be routed correctly.

Personally, you may not get anywhere with the first option; so I would suggest doing both the second and third options.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing too. Guess it is not worth having it changed at nvc stage as they take forever to do something these days...

Do you think when the case reaches the embassy I can call them and have them changed , once I get the interview letter for my spouse....

Between thank you for your advice.....

Once you have the interview letter, contact the Embassy with the information. I don't know if they will update it or not which is why I mentioned having your spouse take care of this at the POE as well.

Just mention it at the interview and they should fix the forms. Verify with the border officers at POE they have the updated address on file. No need to deal with NVC at this point.
