I am so confused. I paid for my AOS fee and sent in my DS-261on May 27th. I sent in my AOS package on JUne 11th.

I see some people can see when their AOS packages have been scanned into the computer. I have been wait until June 27th to see if my IV bill opens up, but it still hasnt. I havent herd anything from NVC I plan to call on Monday, but is this timing normal and how do I know when my package has been scanned. I am getting a little worried. I thought I would be waiting for case complete by now.

Thank you for responses.

The IV invoice is triggered by the DS261 submit date. If you submitted on May 27th, you should hear something hopefully by Monday. Whatever you do, DON't go back into the DS261 or it will resubmit the date and you will have to continue your 30 days from there....I did that and lost 19 days!!! I'm hoping for a Monday IV invoice release!! Good luck!

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read through my story! I really appreciate the feedback :luv:

I L.O.V.E.D. this blog! I never understood the whole transfer thing until now. I can't believe the difference in processing times based on where our files ended up. Even though I filed at the same time as you, being sent to Nebraska rather than California cost me 2 months. That pisses me right off! The part where you talked about watching the USCIS processing times really hit home too. When we filed the projection was 5 months, then it kept going up! I remember at one stage it was 13 months. Talk about not being able to plan our lives!

I have kept this whole process a secret from most people in my life because I didn't want to face the constant questions about "when are you going?" etc. We have been living life "business as usual" until we get our interview. Now that we are getting close we are starting to tell family and close friends, but I refuse to tell work until we know a more exact timeframe. Had I told them in June 2013 when we applied, I may have missed out on a promotion that I went for thinking I might not be able to fulfil the entire contract. I only have 5 weeks left.

Thr transfer "lottery" was one of the worst things about our time at USCIS. People who filed months earlier than I did had to watch an endless stream of later filers get approvals through California ahead of them. VJ is awesome for sharing information, but the service center thing was a huge source of bitterness and misery. Luck isn't supposed to be a factor when it comes to something like this. I don't blame you for keeping things to yourselves, in retrospect we probably should've done the same. It's so complicated and emotionally taxing to share with people outside the process, and there's really not much positive emotional return for doing so.

BOS I LOVED it!!! Specially the part in which u described your interview experience I had tears in my eyes. I am sure I would be feeling almost the same thing that day shich God knows when will come :) u were right into saying that u were one of the luckiest June filers and yet 341 days for u! I hope people realize it's not easy and being married to a citizen doesn't mean u get to step In states right away. Good luck with your new journey of life! The best feeling is to be in love after all this time and feel that all this wait was worth it :)

Thank you samreen! I know how many people you had to watch pass you by during this awful process, and I'm so sorry you've suffered that way. You've been so strong! I can't wait to cheer you on when you get to the finish line :)

did you send your IV package before paying the IV fee?

Yes I did but don't know how much or even IF it will help. Depends on if they look at it by the scanned date of documents or the DS260 completion date which still hasn't happened yet.

Was going to post the link, but see a few others have done so already, also Saylin has updated the Wiki (Thanks Saylin!)

Thanks. for reply Colgil

I asked to lawyer for proof of deliver docs

He give us. he done mail via USPS. our docs delivered to NVC on 13th June. I ll call NVC again on Monday.

hope they scanned our docs & give me positive answer

Does your lawyer have delivery receipt/signature? They do take some time for it show as received on their system, but not this long. Definitely speak to the lawyer and ask for proof of delivery.

Scan date is the date they receive the document into the system (usually a week or so after its physically received in the building). They will tell you the docs are being reviewed, so asked them to clarify if this means waiting to be reviewed or under review, for clarification.

It's taking about 4 weeks from the DS-261 to receiving IV invoice. They are currently processing everything (including DS-261's) from 23rd May give or take a few days.

Once you've paid the IV fee you can print off the cover sheet and send your docs. Once the IV payment changes from in process to paid, you can complete the DS-260. Once they scan in your IV packet, considering no Checklists for AOS or IV (other than false ones) start counting case complete from there. Like I say, at the moment it's approx 4 weeks, but that can change, either faster or slower. If you keep an eye on what activity it happening on this thread you can have an indication on when to expect movement on your case. For example, someone today mentioned that they had docs approved from May 23rd. I'm waiting on docs being reviewed from May 27th. Since 24th, 25 and 26th were weekend and federal holiday, I know that 27th is next. My last scan date was Jun 17th so I have to wait a bit more time before I can dream of Case Complete.

Hello All,

I had a VERY confusing conversation last night with NVC. if anyone has any advice its greatly appreciated! I am wondering if anyone was successful in proving sponsorship in the I-864 form - AOS packet with only assets?

We currently live abroad and thats why I did not meet the income requirement last year, but I do barley have 3 times the requirement in assets. Including my husbands assets we should be set.

I called NVC yesterday and I was told I could submit I-864 and I-864A to claim my husbands assets with mine. BUT I was told that NVC "doesn't care about assets we don't look at them" and that because I will not meet the requirement on my own and Im not using a joint sponsor I will get a checklist requesting to have a joint sponsor. I said ok, so does that mean I must have a joint sponsor? We should be ok if looking just at assets and i prefer not to have my parents sponsor us and have this responsibility "we will then push your case to the embassy abroad and they will review your assets and make the determination if you are eligible because we do not review assets"

It seems silly to me that they will need bank letters proving we have the assets if they are not going to consider them!!!!!

Anyone try this route with the I-864? Thank you!

I wish this rumor would die, no they are not working today. NVC is not working OT. If an Agent tells someone they are, they're flat out lying. One look at the spreadsheet will show that :/

Right now it is taking about 30 days. Take a look at the spreadsheet and people's signatures to get an idea.

They're working today?

No it's saturday.

NVC doesn't work weekends.
