Thank you both so much! :luv: Saylin, you reminded me of something I forgot to add in -- I meant to point out that this process results in conditional permanent residency, not citizenship

Of course! It always helps to know we weren't the only ones going crazy during this crapshoot. ^_^

And YES. Everyone asks, "So that's it? He's done?" ... "Well no, there's still the Removal of Conditions to get his 10 year GC, and then after another year or two with that GC, he can apply, but we have to submit the same kind of paperwork each time." And all I get back from the person who asked is -

Since there's been talk of blogs today, I'll add mine to the list. For most of the process I've kept a private journal, but my husband finally immigrates five days from now, and I decided to write up a detailed account of our entire visa process to share with family and friends. I've spent the whole week writing and editing it, so it's pretty long, but you lovely people on VisaJourney have cameos!

I was nodding in agreement throughout. You write beautifully and with such clarity! We already knew that from the AWESOME letter you wrote in November. Seriously, everyone since the 2013 backlog is indebted to you for that. Fabulous blog!

Immigration and naturalization are such lengthy and convoluted processes, but everyone thinks it's as easy as packing a bag and getting on a plane. The frustration I've experienced because of that misconception was a huge driver behind writing that massive post. The idea that LDRs aren't real relationships is another notion I'd like to lay waste to. I hope at least a few people in my life will read and understand that this was not an easy, casual thing, and that it takes a strong as hell marriage to get through it. You guys all know that, so for you, I just hope it was a good reminder you're not alone <3

Agreed!! Everyone involved with contacting their representatives and sending e-mails, faxes, and letters to make people aware of the issue should be proud of themselves! The hard work lead to shorter approval rates at USCIS and people filing now have no idea how lucky they are for their quick turnaround, nor about the people responsible for raising awareness about the backlog and inconsistencies of our immigration process.

Immigration and naturalization are such lengthy and convoluted processes, but everyone thinks it's as easy as packing a bag and getting on a plane. You hit the nail on the head. I know many people doubted we would last but wouldn't say it to my face. My brother-in-law casually joked, "Yeah, if he'll be here by then" when talking about get-togethers or holidays, not realizing that was a slap in the face of somehow who is already frustrated with not knowing when my husband will be home. My father-in-law told my husband yesterday that "You two have been together for 5 years working so hard towards your goal of finally being together. If this process didn't break you, nothing ever will." Made me tear up that someone who wasn't sure if our relationship was a good idea in the beginning is now behind us 100%.

Absolutely. The fact that processing times seem to be back in line now as USCIS promised is a win for everyone who worked hard and contributed to the uproar we made last year.

Last weekend was my nephew's first birthday and all my family was at the party. Understandably, many of them asked about my husband. After I told one of my aunts that he'd be here on July 2, she said, "then you'll find out if you're really compatible." It was an insensitive and ignorant thing to say, and became another of the drivers behind the writing I shared today. People don't understand how much MORE time and energy need to be invested into a long-distance relationship to make it work. But as with your father-in-law, the unbelievers will be converted ;) That man deserves a hug.

Oh wow. Yeah, bc you'd marry someone who you were unsure about. It is nice that family ask about hubs all the time and are genuinely interested, I just get tired of answering, "I don't know" to when he'll be here.

You reminded me of when I was out with friends, and after one of their friends heard about our immigration woes, he was like, "Wow, so it's like you guys are still dating." I just blank stared him, looked at my friends, and walked away shaking my head.

Yeah, my father-in-law is a good man. He liked me in the beginning, sure, but he was worried about both of us getting hurt. After he got to know us as a couple, he understood why we were together and never stopped supporting us since. He's now IN LOVE with Texas and my family and wants to move here when he retires.

You mean they being "USCIS" and not NVC right? I got my NOA2 on Sunday but i do not believe they work on Sundays. It must be a system glitch at their end.

I would call again and pray that it's just a wrong case # punched in by the previous operator. Also, check your paper work and confirm that you didn't forget to add the appropriate bar-coded sheet.

Thank you MoBar65

our lawyer sent out our docs to NVC and today he give me USPS tracking number and i check it that our docs delivered on 13th June.

He done all thing properly. We hope we will not get checklists.

I read some post that stated that right now NVC working on last week of May. So my question is what date I consider for my IV & AOS pkg
