Since there's been talk of blogs today, I'll add mine to the list. For most of the process I've kept a private journal, but my husband finally immigrates five days from now, and I decided to write up a detailed account of our entire visa process to share with family and friends. I've spent the whole week writing and editing it, so it's pretty long, but you lovely people on VisaJourney have cameos!

Wow, both you and bdrew write so well! It's so nice to read these journals to know that none of us are alone in this process, and that we're all in this together feeling the same anguish and frustrations. We all share a common goal - to finally begin the rest of our lives with our spouses, and we're getting there, slowly but surely. Keep up the great work!

What a wonderful post!

I teared up reading about how you got your I-130 approval! And then teared up again reading about you waiting in bed for the visa approval.

Your second to last paragraph should be read by all Americans who are grossly mis-led in thinking that marrying a US citizen automatically grants the foreign spouse all the rights in the world (such as being instantly allowed to move to the US and instantly becoming a US citizen).

Thank you for your reply Saylin. I meant expedite processing not electronic processing. I understand electronic processing is only available for few countries. What is requirement to expedite your case though?

If you meant expedite, then write out expedite. EP stands for electronic processing.

And NVC basically follows the same criteria as USCIS. So, go to USCIS's website and read that. If you think you qualify, then try requesting. Remember, just because your reason falls into one of the categories doesn't mean it's 100% guaranteed. NVC sends your request to the embassy/consulate where you'll be interviewed, so they're the ones that ultimately decide to approve or deny the request.

Trust me, ROC is a breeze compared to the initial visa process! And as I mentioned earlier, you only deal with one stage: USCIS.

Yeah, I hear you... But I enjoyed writing that rant... :)

I'm the USC petitioner. My wife is British (now a USC!!!), generally awesome, and amazingly patient.

Yeah, if only we were granted US citizenship upon entry. That would save $600 for ROC and then I believe $700 for the actual citizenship process. But USCIS would never allow that, they want as much money as possible from us!

Yeah, I hear you... But I enjoyed writing that rant... :)

Hehe, let it out! :ranting:
