NVC Filers - June 2014

I have another question. Our joint sponsor also sent us documents like pay stubs and financial asset statements. On these statements he wrote all kinds of stuff explaining what they are in pen and circled important numbers. This would be an alteration of the original document. I always thought that we would have to explain things like that on a separate notes sheet. Is NVC going to accept files that are written on like that or are we going to get a check list if we submit them?

NVC issues checklists for very small matters e.g.: not putting N/A or rounding up the income etc. it is much faster and better to send them I-864 as per instructions and wiki on VJ. Edit is up to you. You may want to print/write a new document and ask your sponsor to just sign and not to write anything else. In our case NVC issued checklist for a very small thing on April 30th. We sent checklist reply ( we have two IR5) cases. My checklist reply was reviewed and case complet on June 4th. My wife sent the checklist reply twice on April 30th still they could not find her email and even supervisor review did not help but delayed by another week as she had to send the same email reply that she sent on April 30th again on June 10th and was put in another 30 days BS. We are EP filers.

Make sure that your I-864 is correct before you send.

:ot: Since NVC is now closed for the day and nobody will be calling for several hours, I was thinking of a way to pass time. There are some amazingly witty writers here on VJ and I love stumbling across anyone with a blog. My favourite so far is the one by bdrew612. It has kept me laughing througout this ridiculous gauntlet. If you have time, give it a read!!! http://thelonelynewl....wordpress.com/ I hope this link works and bdrew612 won't mind me sharing!

If anyone else has a blog to share about NVC or immigration please share! It makes me feel better to read other people's stories to know I am not alone :ot2:

I'm a newcomer to bdrew's blog but I find it so inspirational. There is a lot of truth in there. I wish I'd been focussed enough to write a blog, but I didn't expect this process to last this long, so I didn't start one, and fear it's too late to start one now.

On the subject of wit, I'll say goodnight on a phrase my late grandmother used to say whenever I cracked a joke:

"If you are as $#itty as you are witty, you'll be in a heck of a mess!" Good night, God bless, Good luck to all.

I don't mind you sharing my blog at all! In fact, I'm quite touched that you shared it! :-) Thank you both so much for reading and for the kind words!

After the USCIS Community Idea fiasco (my first blog post), I had to start doing something, I was driving myself and my husband b-a-n-a-n-a-s. I realized all my Facebook posts were just becoming immigration woe manifestos and decided to channel my energy to writing. I never expected so many people to read it! I'm very humbled!!!

5/21/2016: Mailed I-751 packet to CSC

5/23/2016: NOA1

7/29/2016: Biometrics Appointment

11/22/2016: I-751 Approved!

Well, I am certainly glad that you do! I didn't stumble upon your blog until recently, but read back and some of your posts were like little excerpts of my life! I don't want your immigration journey to drag on, but selfishly I want you to keep on blogging. Maybe start a blog about assimilating your spouse to USA. That will certainly come in handy for me. (Although truth be told, my VERY Aussie husband live-streams baseball every freaking day. I think he was born to be Americanised)

Never fear! I won't stop blogging! I might need to change the name of my blog when he gets here LOL

And, we have to remove conditions 2 years after he gets here so I get to be mad at USCIS all over again!!!

Saylin, why not link the DS260 exemplar rather than the old DS230?

[...]

That link is in my wiki ;)

And I liked filling out the DS-230 as well as any additions from the DS-260 screenshots in preparation for filling out the DS-260, and it's clear I'm not the only one ;)

ROC is nowhere near as bad as the initial visa process! And much, much shorter!

Plus you're with your spouse this time around ;)

Having my husband here will definitely make it easier! I was thinking earlier (because I think too much), a good chunk of the 2013 Backlog folks will be removing conditions in or around 2016. I'm expecting another backlog personally. YAY!

Ah, that is true :P But, at least you just deal with one stage (USCIS) instead of three (USCIS, NVC, embassy/consulate), so it'll still be faster (should be anyways, lol).

A backlog while together and going about our lives should be much more bearable, at least :)

My husband and I have said in the past that we don't know if we could have survived if we didn't have the techology we do today. Could you imagine if phones, computers, internet etc didn't exist and you could only communicate by mail??? On saying that, in those days you could just turn up somewhere and get citizenship so we'd only have the journey across the atlantic to worry about

tell me about it thanks God forcomunication !

Well it's not so much a matter of the actual I-864 being accurate. I am well aware of the whole N/A thing and filling out all fields correctly. My question was about writing on supporting documents such as bank statements or pay stubs with comments explaining things about them. Is this something I would get check listed for?

I - 130 sent 2014-04-18

Got NOA1 2014-04-22

I-130 approved 2014-05-14

NVC received 2014-05-23

DS-261/AOS bill 2014-07-01

Submit DS-261 2014-07-01

Paid AOS 2014-07-01

Sent AOS pack 2014-07-04

IV fee invoice ???

Dumb question: how do we find out when our packets have been scanned? I have searched all over the CEAC site and haven't been able to find anything.

Also, it seems like someone at NVC entered my address incorrectly into their system, and it is spelled so wrong that there is no way any mail will be delivered to my actual address. What's the best way to fix this?

The best way is to call them and find out. Don't wait for any mail, specially if they have your address wrong. ;)
