I have an important question. My dad (joint sponsor) mailed me his I-864 but he made a mistake on a couple of the pages where he needed to hand-write something that wouldn't fit in the box if typed. He did it wrong. If I was to just print and write on those pages myself and replace the new ones with the ones he made a mistake on, would NVC be able to tell? I know it has that bar code on the bottom. Would it end up not matching the other sheets or something? I can have him send the whole thing again but it will take several more days.

The answer to the first question is up to you. I personally said "yes", but I think you can organise this once in the country too. I just figured it would save a step to say yes at this point.

If you say "yes" to the first part I think you also need to say "yes" to the second part.

Just go to the website for the form and instructions, print it out and practice on that

You must put a '0' in there and include a written statement about why you didn't file taxes.

For the next question, there is no number 3 in Part 1. Part 1 is 1, 1.a. -> 1.f.

The Part 2 section on the immigrant is what carries over to the right side of the page, as per the I-864 instructions (linked in the response to the last quote).

ahh.. so you're now talking about someone's 864a - put 'see above' or rewrite the address in Part 1 #3.

And in our case, the person filing the 864a left number 12 blank completely without any issue.

Thanks for the answer, I called nvc and they told me to put the year 2013 and $0 as income, and I wrote a little note under it saying I'm claimed as a dependent on my parents tax return. My dad filled out the I-864 and the the lady told me to fill in the residence address but we left that blank because it was the same mailing address. And she said leaving the assets blank isn't a problem.

I have another question. Our joint sponsor also sent us documents like pay stubs and financial asset statements. On these statements he wrote all kinds of stuff explaining what they are in pen and circled important numbers. This would be an alteration of the original document. I always thought that we would have to explain things like that on a separate notes sheet. Is NVC going to accept files that are written on like that or are we going to get a check list if we submit them?

Kids finished Term 2 today and I surprised them and took them out to lunch. Just got home and doing my daily VJ read.

Great to see so many CC. Looks like they are up to around 30th May although I am sure there are still folk before that who are waiting. I am a June 3rd so hopefully next week.

Five sleeps now before our family is reunited for our holiday in Queensland. I will be 'offline' from VJ for a week. Will have so much to catch up on when I return.

Let's hope for more good news tomorrow.

OK Now I don't know whether to angry, sad, or excited...

Just called again because my something inside me told me too...

This time I spoke with Rick, very nice guy, said a supervisor reviewed my checklist response and that I will be getting another checklist in my email for leaving the same Part 3 Number 9 bank...Which I know for a fact I did not. My checklist response I put "N/A" in every single blank spot.

I was allowed to speak with a supervisor who was a total jerk and did not give his name. I was told that I need to put my same address there NOT just "N/A". He also told me that it would be another 6 weeks after they scanned the response. He also said that they would not complete the case and allow me to return the corrected document upon the interview.

This makes a grown man want to cry! So looks like I'm calling my senator once again!!! Good luck everyone, they started working on May 28th scans today.

If you want the Social Security Number process to begin as soon as you enter at POE, then answer yes to both questions. If you answer yes to Question 1, you MUST answer yes to Question 2.

If you want to wait and go to your local SS Office yourself and start the process manually, then put no.

I find it so hard to understand why they are making people wait 30 days to pay the IV fee. Hopefully they will speed up review times to counteract the long wait to pay. I on the other hand got to pay quickly, but now just sitting waiting for review. (although I would have a case complete this week if it wasn't for my checklist) Never mind, it is what it is. As my dad said to me, "You are still further along in the process than if you had started now"
