Just got off the phone with NVC

I sent the AOS/IV packet to NVC via EP (email) on June 4th, but their system shows scanned date for my case is June 20th.

And Amanda from NVC told me that the "30 days" time phase begins as June 20th, holly god....

Its going be another month of wait time...

Wow, I hope to God this isn't the case. That makes it a 2 month process without even knowing if you've got a checklist.. and if you do, then what? another 2 months!? This can't be plausible, I'm hoping for EP they address them quicker since they take so long just to open it.

The 10 years validity has nothing to do with the GC status (it is indefinite unless you cause it to be invalid), just the plastic card. Anyone knows if the card reissue is free of charge or do they bleed you the $165 again?

No it didn't. Those 13 days were just to get the case from USCIS to NVC, which was relatively fast by the way. NVC issued your case number almost the same day they received your case. I've seen that happen once a month here on VJ.

Oh kind of like renewing a credit card sort of hahaaa ok I see ty I was confused and I'm sure they don't do it for free if they do I'm sure they will change that by the time we need to renew it. Thank you my friend.

Are you the petitioner or beneficiary?

If the petitioner: bring an updated I-864 to the interview, recent pay stubs, and a new employment letter. Inform the CO of the change of jobs.

If the beneficiary: inform the CO of the change of jobs. They likely won't care as it's kind of expected that the beneficiary will be quitting their job anyways.

Do you mean if you lose the card or for the 10 year green card?

If you lose the card and need a new one, it's more than $165. You need to file an I-90 and it'll cost $450.

If you mean a 10 year green card, through ROC (from an expired 2 year card), then it's $590 (file I-751).

And if you mean replacing an expired 10 year green card with a new one, then it's $450 (file an I-90).

So dissapointed. Called NVC and my expedite request was denied - they couldn't give me an explanation. This whole process is the worst thing ever. My husbands Russian visa expires September 1st. If we don't get an interview by then we are screwed and the case will ahve to be transfered to another embassy in Africa which may delay things even more. I want to scream and cry and punch things. I feel like we just cant get a break anywhere.

Hey, all, now that I've got that pesky IV fee paid (or at least in the process of paying) what's the current wait for the DS260 to be available to fill out? I paid the fee at about 9:30 am pacific time. Those of you who recently paid your fees, how long does it take to be able to click through on the IV application "button" on the ceac website? Will it be today? Tomorrow? When the IV fee shows paid?

My DS-260 was available same time or day after and it showed paid day after hubby put it through. Keep checking. Perhaps tomorrow. So glad you have finally been able to pay this.

To the rest let's just hang in there and wait. Hopefully some good news soon. My AOS was scanned 3rd June so hoping to hear something next week. I think what I want to see is a false checklist which will mean it has been approved. IV docs have now been scanned so another month of waiting starts.

Meanwhile, need to kick kids off TV so I can watch Wimbledon!!
