I just called the NVC and my case number has been assigned today! woohoo!!

They received my case June 4th.

9 days since case number and still can't do DS-261... starting to get worried...

Does the AoS fee usually get invoiced right away after DS-261 or does that take several days too?

Not sure if you'll be as lucky at NVC but it's taking longer here for every step. Try to be patient since unless I'm wrong there is nothing any of us can do but wait, calling at this stage will do nothing.

Please remember we have all been waiting for a year or more to get to NVC and I for one am happy you made it in a month but please be patient, might want to call in three weeks from now to check with NVC.

I highly doubt they would do that, although I've heard they respond quickly to e-mails. That is on my to-do list tomorrow!

Just wait. You'll get a checklist if you don't include the PCC and since it's currently taking 30 days to review things, 15 days is shorter than 30 days

The visa is a one-time use. That's the sticker in the passport. In conjunction with the stamp added at POE, it acts as a temporary green card for up to one year.

You'll get a green card in the mail. If you're married for under 2 years at the time of POE, you'll get a conditional green card valid for 2 years. You'll then need to Remove Conditions (ROC here on VJ). If you're married for more than 2 years at POE, then you'll receive a 10 year green card in the mail, no conditions.

Yeah, I believe many, many years ago, the green cards had much longer validity periods. Now it's either 2 years initially or 10 years.

Word of advise so no one does the same mistake as I did. I filled out DS261 on 5/12 and then on 6/11 I went back into the form and did not do any changes but hit submit again. Apparently, that reset the date on the form so now on their end it shows as submitted on 6/11. I was told I should expect IV invoice around 7/12, or 30 days after I submitted the stupid form. The woman I spoke with made me wanna cry....At least, you folks, don't do what I did.

Me thinks they get more money that way. I think USCIS made me a tiny bit pesimistic (said wiff a lisp )

That's what I'm thinking, too. Agent Don stated the Embassy sends them so many slots and the interview schedulers fit people in where they can (I interpret that as lottery system). He then said "I suppose you want an earlier interview?" Then proceeded to tell me to contact thee Embassy directly tomorrow.

I mentioned that the Embassy doesn't have our case yet (obviously) and he said that shouldn't matter with scheduling.

I'm taking what he said with a grain of salt. I trust VJ over NVC any day. But I'm still going to ask my husband to call tomorrow LOL

That's 2 MONTHS to pay the IV fee!? That's heart breaking!

I'm staying away from https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ until I receive the IV invoice email from NVC! It's too dangerous!

It's worth a shot, but they won't know about your case until they receive it from NVC, so not sure how they can do anything without it. But hey, who knows with them
