I do have a question, on your wife's Visa the expiration states 0/2014 what does that mean shouldn't it be permanent? Or do you get the visa through the mail later?

I am US citizen petitioner. I am in US. My wife (beneficiary) is in India. Case number begins with BMB.

PCC is going to take 15 days. Should I mail rest of documents to NVC or wait and mail everything together?

I'm guessing you will get a checklist. Even my wife's case # begins with BMB.

She will require a PCC from the passport office as well as regional PCC which is issued by the local municipality if her residence is outside of Mumbai. So make sure you get both PCC's as they are required at the time of the interview.

Just wait. You'll get a checklist if you don't include the PCC and since it's currently taking 30 days to review things, 15 days is shorter than 30 days

The visa is a one-time use. That's the sticker in the passport. In conjunction with the stamp added at POE, it acts as a temporary green card for up to one year.

You'll get a green card in the mail. If you're married for under 2 years at the time of POE, you'll get a conditional green card valid for 2 years. You'll then need to Remove Conditions (ROC here on VJ). If you're married for more than 2 years at POE, then you'll receive a 10 year green card in the mail, no conditions.

I highly doubt they would do that, although I've heard they respond quickly to e-mails. That is on my to-do list tomorrow!

Hey, all, now that I've got that pesky IV fee paid (or at least in the process of paying) what's the current wait for the DS260 to be available to fill out? I paid the fee at about 9:30 am pacific time. Those of you who recently paid your fees, how long does it take to be able to click through on the IV application "button" on the ceac website? Will it be today? Tomorrow? When the IV fee shows paid?

Yes, the official P4 of Guayaquil's US consulate doesn't says anything about apostilles, they only request the certified copy of the original long-form birth certificate.

I'm clear that an apostille is required only when the document is going to be used in other country (Those under the Hague convention apostille) but actually what I'm wondering is, will NVC accept scanned notarized copies with the respective translation, just like the USCIS stage? without triggering a check list. (Of course including a cover letter saying I know I'm required to furnish this documents the day of the interview)

Or, do I need to send my certified copies from here to the NVC to avoid any risk? And if that is the case they will require and apostille, and a of course a translation.

PD: Is that true? I've read that neither the beneficiary nor the petitioner can translate the document, so that means I can ask someone to do it? (Not necessarily a professional)

NVC requires you send all original documents with a copy of each and it can be a regular copy not an apostille. I think that's what you mean.
