It definitely helps to hear from two people who had about the same response time. Let's see if I can make it three. ;-)

Thanks for the info!

I have a couple questions about required documents for the CR-1 visa for JAPAN FILERS.

Right now my spouse and I are at the NVC stage(one agonizing year of this, and counting) and I just wanted to make sure that I have the documents straight that we are supposed to send in the IV package.

(We got an RFE from USCIS for sending in the Konin Todoke, and not the Koseki Shohon, which was confusing and has made me super paranoid since.)

It seems like Japan does not have birth certificates like America, so we are planning on sending the Koseki Tohon and Koseki Shohon to the NVC for the IV package to suffice as the birth certificate and marriage certificate. Are these the correct documents? There is scant information about what the Japanese words and equivalent documents are, so I really want to make sure we have the right ones.

What did everyone else send in? Should we(even though it was rejected by the USCIS) still submit the Konin Todoke?

Also, they are asking for original copies, but what, EXACTLY, do they want? As long as the docs have a hanko stamp on them, does that mean they are originals?

Thank you a million times over!!!

I'm not a Japanese filer, but I would suggest calling NVC and asking them exactly what they require. Call 2-3 times if you like and make sure you get the same answer from each agent. Alternatively, you could always just send both and cover your bases.

Thank you , girls :) Hubby and I will have a Skype date later today. Sigh.. Such a bittersweet day!

Having some wine now drinking-red-wine.gif It is 5 o'clock somewhere.. :P (but 4 pm in Poland, ha! close enough ;) )

edit: Just as I hit the "post" button - I spilled the wine on my favorite white t-shirt. Of course I did.. :P

Hi Blueberry

A very Happy Anniversary. The first one is so special although all I remember of mine was feeling sick and wanting to go to bed! Don't let that mind wander - I was three months pregnant to our wonderful son.

It was our wedding Anniversary on Saturday but 17 years have passed and we are still happy.

10 sleeps and we are all meeting up for a holiday in the Whitsunday Islands of Queensland. Can't wait and then back to hopefully the last leg of this terrible journey.

Have a great day.

Love

Xxx

Hi Gwinne!

It's great to connect with you, and your fast approval gives me hope!

Congradulations!

Did you need to go to an interview at the embassy?

I was able to get through to USCIS on Friday, and it turns out that the money order that I sent through the Post Office was emitted incorrectly :(

I had a dubious feeling when they made out the order.... so I am not completely surprised, but I will have to send the whole package in again

(Luckily I got my money back)

I wanted to ask you how you made the payment???

Where will you be living in the US?

I am from AZ and my husband is from Puerto Natales. You cannot leave Chile without visiting Patagonia!

Lets keep in touch, as we are almost on the same timeline

Magan

Big shout out to my neighbor!

Can anyone tell me how to make the visible timeline that's attached to people's profile without having to go to there profile to see it? Like at the end of their comments I can see all of their approval dates. How'd they do that?

Marriage: 12/10/2013
Sent I-130: 1/23/14
NOA1: 1/30/14
NOA2: 6/10/14
Email that it was shipped to nvc: 6/23/14
Received by NVC: 7/1/14
Case#/IID# assigned: 7/16/14
Received/Submitted DS-261: 7/29/14
Paid AOS fee: 7/30/14
Sent AOS packet: 8/1/14
Aos fee showing PAID: 8/2/14
Received and paid IV Fee: 9/8/14 (fee showing paid / DS-260 available 9/9/14)
Submitted DS-260: 9/11/14
Sent IV packet: 9/24/14
NVC Received 9/26/14

Arrived in US: 3/8/14

STILL HAPPY AND NORMAL AS OF 8/4/2016!!

AOS Approved per phone: 10/22/14
*Received what I thought was a false checklist on this date as well*

*Problems: Called on 10/27/14 11/5/14 and 11/20/14 just to be proactive On all of these dates except the last, NVC kept telling me that my IV document probably hadn't been reviewed yet. On 11/20 the representative told me that the BC needed to be inextensa and the marriage license. True enough I had sent an extracto. But requested a supervisor review bc I knew the marriage lic was inextensa. 2 days later called again and got the same supervisor who told me that the marriage lic needed the proper signed legalizada (sticker on the back)

Sent necessary documents/Received: 11/20/14 and 11/26/14

Called 12/15/14: got Arthur....after he checked and verbally spanked he sent me to supervisor Silvia who said she would pull my file and try to figure it out.

Case complete: 12/19/14 Sylvia called and left a voicemail, called and confirmed later that night and status changed to N/A.

Thank you so much Sylvia. May God bless you and your family.

Appointment date and time received: 12/27/14

***FAST FORWARD***

If you click on your username on the top right hand corner of the screen and select 'My Profile', then under your profile picture select 'Edit my Profile'. You can fill your timeline in in the 'Signature' tab on the left hand side of the screen :)

Thank you sweet heart I really appreciate that, not sure you will have such a long wait but I know I will. All we can do is pray and try even if we fail to be positive, it's not always easy and I fail a lot. Will be praying your wait wont be very long at all. :D(F)(L)(F)

I have no idea about Japan sorry to say but if you go the the US Embassy for Japan and click on Visa then Immigrant visa or Marriage in Japan on the same site there should be written exactly what you need for each document and where to have it transplanted etc. If for any chance you can find it then you need to e-mail the Embassy in Japan and ask them, they are pretty good on answering your questions and you can take that e-mail with you to the Embassy as evidence that is the document that they ok'ed.

Good luck to you and hope someone from Japan comes by you can also search here on VJ for a Japan thread. :)(F) (L) (F)

It's indicated in uscis website that ours was shipped on june 5th. My husband is calling nvc everyday to update if they got it but unfortunately they haven't received it and it's not in their system yet :( so frustating seeing so many cases getting there 1 week after approval >.<

For me the USCIS page showed that our case had shipped, but when I called them I discovered it didn't actually ship until a week later. That site is so misleading... I think they update it to 'Shipped' once they put it in the pile for shipping.

Our case took a week from NOA2 to the status changing to 'Shipped', and then 2 weeks from the date of shipping to the date NVC confirmed receipt. Unless the mail goes via horse and buggie from Nebraska to New Hampshire, there is no way it actually shipped when they told me it did...

Just keep calling, it'll get there eventually :)
