That's fine asking a question like that (since they don't have transcripts), I was just referring to when people ask what amount to use when they do have transcripts (or tax returns).

To answer your question, for your parents, they'll put $0 for the three years, then they'll just have to provide a letter stating why they don't file taxes (not high enough income). If you want, provide a print-out from IRS stating that they don't need to file. Then just make sure to provide proof of all the assets that are going to be used to qualify for the I-864.

Hope that clears it up!

Yaaaa, I don't know how to French braid

Maybe I'll ask the HR person. If anything, I can start out with a red wig, instead of the blue or purple, as that's more "normal". Although, looking at the Amazon picture, it's bright, Ariel the little mermaid red

As usual, yes very clear and concise and for that I'm eternally grateful you are my special angel. :) Thank you so very, very much. :)(F) (L) (F) .

She's probably right! If they open up a Publix and start serving their subs, I don't think you'll have any reason to come to the US! You'll have everything you need there!

Nah, we need the weather.. plus the cost of living is sooo much cheaper over there.. I can get a house 10x bigger for the same cost of a small one here!!!

Nah, they still need Chipotle over there ^_^

They do have a chipotle. It's in Central London. Not as good still ;).

I'm almost feeling like I want to call and confirm. My esposo called and asked if the mail had been reviewed and they guy said he couldn't tell. Then the guy says "but your case is complete" My esposo says "it's complete?" he says "yes, next is the interview. They'll send you an email for when your interview is"

The guy also told my esposo that we have to bring the original marriage cert to the interview.

It's making me a little nervous because my esposo called for Spanish but said the guy was definitely NOT mother tongue Spanish. So I'm worried maybe the guy misunderstood? Miss-communicated?

I think I want to call again...

did you have a supervisor review going on your case?

I'm sorry if I asked for advice on this matter, it's just that I panicked when reading that someone else was going to put the amount in the 'wages and salaries' line of the I-864...

This whole process has taken its toll on us -_-, we all want to end it soon and without checklists...

I understand the fear of not doing something right, but it states right in the question, between the question number and where you start inputting the numbers EXACTLY what amount to use. If one asks here, they're going to get the exact same information (if given the right answer anyways) as it already states on the form.

Hi Austin! :content:

Same here, total income shows "0.00". However, I thnk that it is mandatory to put the "total income" line in the I-864, not the wages and salaries one... therefore we put 2013, 2012 and 2011 income as "0.00"... We mentioned this in an explanation letter, mentioning that my husband's income wasn't really zero, but since it was foreign it is not taxable, therefore we had to put 0.00 because the form asks for the total income line.

Everybody here has mentioned that NVC is very finicky with this matter, and they checklist you if the numbers don't match exactly with the total income line (for 1040 filers), even if you round up the numbers and they are different for one cent...

In this case, I believe that you should put 0.00 in previous years, and at 'current annual income' you type the number that appears on the employment letter of your partner's new Job...You could explain this in an additional letter... And we got a joint sponsor just in case...

At least that's what we did.. I can only advise from my own experience, at the moment I googled the issue and searched in threads, and I understood that that's the way to do it... Hopefully I'm not wrong, because I already sent my package and it could generate a checklist if incorrect :(

Maybe Saylin (the expert) has additional advice? :)

This worries me a bit... :cry2:

It's not really all that hard to learn... the braids are lumpy at first, but if they're under a wig who cares?

Like Jenga, for hair. (You take a piece from the left side and you put it on top, you take a piece from the right side and you put it on top.) Just takes a little practice. If we can figure out US immigration, we can certainly learn how to french braid!):dance:

... now I want to buy a wig. Although I'm partial to grape koolaid purple myself!

I could really use some help guys.

I need some help.

I've attached the page from my interview letter under "Required Visa Interview Documents"

I understand it all until I get down to the last three:

F - Petitioner Marriage Certificate

F - Petitioner Birth Certificate

11 - Petitioner Marriage Termination

The Document Status Code is "F" which means "NVC did not request this document" just as it did for the n/a items "Adoption", "Marriage Termination" "Court Records" all of which do not apply to him.

I just need to know if I need to send him the Petitioner Documents? Can someone help?

It seems like NVC has completely stopped invoicing IV fees to everyone after case assigned date of May 7th. What are they upto? I am almost certain it has to do with the new website they launched after May 10th. Something must not have been working at their end for IV Fees section. It used to take about a week for IV fee to show up after completion of DS261.:devil::devil:

As my wife would say, "Everything is better in America..." (She's joking by the way, so no one is offended here!) And for food, I would have to agree on. The cost of restaurants though here are 50% mark up than restaurants in America... Now you know why it's called ripped of Britain :).

I'm sorry if I asked for advice on this matter, it's just that I panicked when reading that someone else was going to put the amount in the 'wages and salaries' line of the I-864...

This whole process has taken its toll on us -_-, we all want to end it soon and without checklists...

There's basically 3 choices for that question on the I-864/I-864EZ:

-total income if a 1040 was filed

-adjusted gross income if 1040EZ was filed

-$0 if taxes weren't filed (for whatever reason)

Choosing the wages and salaries line would get you a checklist (unless one is lucky and it's the same amount as the correct line).

It's not really all that hard to learn... the braids are lumpy at first, but if they're under a wig who cares?

Well, my partner's tax transcript shows "$0" at "Total Income" under "Income".

I believe it's because he works outside of the US (the US and Canada have a tax treaty) so his income wasn't taxable in the US since he paid his income tax in Canada. I'll need to use the amount at "Wages, Salaries, Tips, Etc" under "Income". I hope it's okay. Fingers crossed!

No you write the total income. If he didn't work in the USA, then his income for those tax year(s) is $0. HIs current income may qualify him, but the number you should be writing the forms is his total income which is $0.

OK I know I said I was going to wait until Wednesday to call, but I couldn't take it anymore so I called today... I called the National Visa Center... had to press redial about 25 times before I got through. Then I finally got through and was on hold for about 30 minutes.

This was my first time calling so at least now I know what to expect for next time. Thank goodness I had a baby blanket to crochet for an upcoming shower so my hands were busy to keep me from going insane!

When I got through I got connected to Page (Paige?)... she sounded very nice. I told her I don't have a case ID number yet but was calling to see if they had received my case from USCIS. She checked using my USCIS receipt number and then said it had not yet been received. She asked if the letter I got said my case had been transferred to the NVC and I said yes.

After I hung up... I reread the email again from USCIS (still haven't gotten anything by snail mail)... it says:

"Your Case Status: Post Decision Activity
On May 21, 2014, we shipped this approved or re-affirmed case to the Department of State for visa processing. For more information, please contact them directly.
For approved applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include USCIS sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center or the Department of State. For denied applications/petitions, post-decision activity may include the processing of an appeal and/or motions to reopen or reconsider and revocations."

SO I realized maybe I should call the Department of State instead of the NVC... and I did, but their recording says that they only process nonimmigrant visas. What do you guys think? Should I be calling National Visa Center, or Department of State? ( I swear I read the Wiki a few times, just looking for reassurance here, thanks!)
