i got checklist email today 18th june, 2014 saying :

______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________

The National Visa Center received your DS-260 form. We are waiting for the traveling applicant’s

supporting civil documents to be submitted to the NVC. Your online Immigrant Visa Application will be

reviewed upon receipt of your supporting documentation.

But i have sent the supporting civil documents and was told they are scanned in system on 17th June, 2014.

Just want to confirm, this is false checklist right?

My In-laws' cases are complete as of yesterday. We received a checklist for i-864A for not writing "N/A" for address (on 06/12). When I had questioned NVC about the checklist, I was told that Mumbai consulate doesn't want any fields to be left blank. I re-sent the forms with "N/A" (received by nvc on 16th, still have not been scanned), and emailed the consulate stating that this is absolutely absurd, waste of resources, abuse of power and fraud. NVC is already backlogged and people are getting ridiculous checklist similar to mine. Also, if this is a requirement, it should be made public knowledge. Mumbai Consulate called NVC and got checklist removed.

If you have a lawyer, you don't have to fill out the DS-261 form. It's taking up to 30 days for NVC to review the DS-261 form now (It only took 5-14 days until early May). Since the IV fee is tied with the DS-261, they (applicants with a lawyer) can pay the IV fee without waiting for up to 30 days. So if you have a lawyer, you could finish the NVC stage a month faster compared to applicants (without a lawyer) who have to fill out the DS-261 form and wait for up to 30 days to pay the IV fee.

Supervisor Ike said, "Well, you could hire a lawyer." Right! Like I was going to pay $2,000-5,000 to hire a lawyer just to pay the IV fee faster. LOL

But I thought the whole point of having the DS-261 is so that you can appoint the lawyers to do everything. How do they know to use the lawyer if you don't fill that out?

I got the NOA2 e-mail June 10. I expect to be here this month and next just waiting for numbers. I never expected to be this far along by now so I will just wait and prepare my documents

If you have a lawyer, you write down your lawyer's information on the I-130 form.

NVC doesn't require you to fill out the DS-261 form because they see your lawyer's information on the I-130 form.

Ahh you are right!! I asked because even though some people had lawyers, they ended up completing DS261, I think. My Brain is fried

I wrote 0, and didn't get a checklist

(just remember not lo leave blanks like the sample, write N/A or none. I did it with a pen after printing it.

You have to send an email to nvcexpedite@state.gov, write your case number on the subject line, and include in your email the petitioner's and beneficiary's names and dates of birth, along with a statement explaining why you need the expedite.

I received this exact checklist, and it meant that my AOS documents were approved. You can call NVC to find out

Sounds like a government action plan. It must be a good way of doing business then LOL.

DS-261 is a redundant piece of brainless exercise that's now adding a whole month of waiting to those that can afford it the least. NVC should amend its policy and make it optional if the applicant's email is listed in the case-file.

Your IV fee cover page has a link that directs you to what documents you need to include. Go through it in detail then ask specific questions later. This is the best approach to reduce the risk of checklists and long delays later.

I hope to get case complete by the end of the week or the beginning of next week.. I want an August interview.. PLUS I need a Disney fix!
