I called NVC and talked to Supervisor Ike to ask a couple of questions.

I mentioned to Ike that I was concerned about having two different timelines for applicants who have a lawyer and applicants without one since it takes up to 30 days to receive an IV fee invoice if you don't have a lawyer. If you have a lawyer, you'll probably get a CC a month earlier (assuming your lawyer doesn't screw up and you don't get hit with a checklist!). Ike told me it was due to having many applicants now so it's a work load issue. Yeah, like I didn't know that. Oh, Ike mentioned that reading postings on VisaJourney is a mistake since the timelines we see on here are not the official timelines. When was the last time USCIS/NVC released an accurate official timeline?

Anyway, my AOS package has been scanned! It took 4 business days since it arrived at NVC.

Wow that pissed me off so much. They lie and feed us so much misinformation, and then they tell us not to trust VJ. What a disgrace!

And why exactly are the doing things faster for people who have lawyers? Could you elaborate?

Just got off the phone with NVC, I was calling to ask if they had any update on my AOS and IV packages. They were e-mailed May 27, but I haven't had any word if their was any activity. I'm not sure what the process is since those who physically mail can know it was received, then "scanned", then it goes under review. Arielle, the NVC rep, said for EP it takes 30 days to get to the e-mail, and you only know when it becomes reviewable, there is no step before that. So, I guess I'll wait till the 35 day mark and try again.

I called NVC and spoke with this nice guy (Don, I think) and he said to disregard the email with the checklist, it is a automated email because they received the email dated May 27 (doing EP). The IV is not review yet to wait 30 bla, bla , bla days.

Regardless of everything, I double check what the stupid paralegal sent and it is missing the marriage certificate. So I still would have gotten a checklist! An important lesson learn here and I want all VJ friends doing EP and having a lawyer CHECK, CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK. . I sent the additional documents myself but I got a auto-reply as follow:

Now what? HELP PLEASE!

If you have a lawyer, you don't have to fill out the DS-261 form. It's taking up to 30 days for NVC to review the DS-261 form now (It only took 5-14 days until early May). Since the IV fee is tied with the DS-261, they (applicants with a lawyer) can pay the IV fee without waiting for up to 30 days. So if you have a lawyer, you could finish the NVC stage a month faster compared to applicants (without a lawyer) who have to fill out the DS-261 form and wait for up to 30 days to pay the IV fee.

Supervisor Ike said, "Well, you could hire a lawyer." Right! Like I was going to pay $2,000-5,000 to hire a lawyer just to pay the IV fee faster. LOL

well I received a checklist for my AOS packet saying to complete the DS 261 which I did on May 9 then again on 28 May....why can't they see that in the system and not send a checklist stating to complete it?????

I don't think I need to do anything except wait...right???? Still can't pay IV invoice but sent IV packet and they received 9 June....

So they can mess it up anyway and you don't save anytime after all and top you are short of $5,000!
