Same situation. My case# was assigned on May 21, and still no AOS fees and the termination error message. I did however fill out the DS261. Keep checking for that..

Have not been able to fill any forms yet. Ok I'll keep checking.

I understand the fear of not doing something right, but it states right in the question, between the question number and where you start inputting the numbers EXACTLY what amount to use. If one asks here, they're going to get the exact same information (if given the right answer anyways) as it already states on the form.

I understand but I have a question that is not answered on the Wiki and to be honest am hesitant to ask. But will because I have no recourse but to do so. My parents are both retired they don't file taxes you can make about $35,000 jointly without filing taxes so my parents don't have those papers. They have assets more than enough for four with their retirement alone, plus rental they have CD's, their property paid in full, savings but how do I file for them, I really don't know what to do and this isn't in the Wiki. I know I have to file even if I don't work, can't because I'm taking care of my parents who are ill and is why I returned. So there you are in a nut shell. I have been worrying about this since I came to this thread but have only asked one person I trust, but am still confused. But would like more input and if nothing else this can help someone else and maybe even added to the Wiki for future reference.(F)(L)(F)

Well, we do have casual Friday, just not sure if it's THAT casual

I used to wear wigs a lot for theatre, and if you French braid your hair underneath (and pin the ends of the braids into a chignon at the back), if you get grief for being too casual you can just take the wig off and your hair still looks nice!

Well, my partner's tax transcript shows "$0" at "Total Income" under "Income".

I believe it's because he works outside of the US (the US and Canada have a tax treaty) so his income wasn't taxable in the US since he paid his income tax in Canada. I'll need to use the amount at "Wages, Salaries, Tips, Etc" under "Income". I hope it's okay. Fingers crossed!

Yes, as someone else said, you'll need to add an explanation to the I-864 about why your income shows as 0. And for current income, put the actual income, backed up with a letter from his employer saying that he will continue in his current job (and salary) once you move.

Are you also using assets? (The amount you expect to get on your current place, for example? That should help, too.

I JUST RECEIVE MY N0A2 ... N0T SURE WHAT 2 D0... I'M JUST W0NDERING H0W L0NG I SH0ULD WAIT BE4 I START CALLING NVC T0 GET MY CASE NUMBER & IIN ?

Yes, read the wiki, but probably +/- one month from approval, through receipt by NVC, to case number right now.

I'm glad that case numbers are being generated a little sooner now, it bodes well that they might be catching up.

the USCIS has been approving files in 5 months. Apparently the NVC got a little backlogged.

I got my case number the same day it was received.. You can never tell what they will do next... but as far as reviewing documents... they have slowed down lately.

I suspect that you got your case numbers right away because they didn't want to have to process your i129. My i129 was finally approved (because I sent it in so much later) so I'm hoping that it will arrive at NVC and force them to get moving on my application finally!

CALLED TODAY CASE COMPLETED.

Yay! Good news!!!!

I'm not entirely sure, but I bet that you'd just fill in $0 as the income, with an explanation letter that they don't make enough money to file taxes, but that they qualify on assets alone. Then in the assets section of the i864 you'd put the value of assets, and send supporting documentation (bank statements, appraisal of house, etc). You may want to file 2013 taxes for them (even though they don't have to file) just so that if you get a checklist you can send something... But now that I think about it, isn't there an irs form that will back up the claim that they don't actually have to file? I don't know that much about us taxes, but I think there is.

Logically, and with my "lawyer's daughter" ability to read forms, that's my best guess. But I'm not an expert, or an accountant, so if anyone knows more, please chime in!

This would apply to anyone qualifying on assets alone, not just retired sponsors.

That's fine asking a question like that (since they don't have transcripts), I was just referring to when people ask what amount to use when they do have transcripts (or tax returns).

To answer your question, for your parents, they'll put $0 for the three years, then they'll just have to provide a letter stating why they don't file taxes (not high enough income). If you want, provide a print-out from IRS stating that they don't need to file. Then just make sure to provide proof of all the assets that are going to be used to qualify for the I-864.

Hope that clears it up!

I used to wear wigs a lot for theatre, and if you French braid your hair underneath (and pin the ends of the braids into a chignon at the back), if you get grief for being too casual you can just take the wig off and your hair still looks nice!

[...]

Yaaaa, I don't know how to French braid

Maybe I'll ask the HR person. If anything, I can start out with a red wig, instead of the blue or purple, as that's more "normal". Although, looking at the Amazon picture, it's bright, Ariel the little mermaid red
