Really hoping for IV fee today or tomorrow... we're moving apartments at the end of the month and I really want all my documentation to have gone in (since it's all in the old address) before I have to do an address change and/or change the forms. AOS is in, so that's the major one... but my cover letter and whatnot all has our current return addresses etc, and I'd really rather not have to edit and rescan, since IV documents are totally ready to go as soon as fee is paid. Come on NVC, get your butts in gear!

Do you need to notify NVC your new address if you use the mail forwarding service by Canada Post? BTW, it costs $55.

I haven't received any mail from NVC so I assumed they only emailed?

My visa hasn't been approved yet, but I doubt that would be a problem. My husband asked before doing so to the FAFSA representative, and she said that it was fine.

If they ask, you just say that your spouse has never lived in the US before, you could send a copy of their foreign passport as proof, for instance, and maybe proof of education/work abroad... If they ask for proof after your spouse arrives to the US, then you could just update the ssn and explain that he recently got a green card and ssn... This could be easily proven with a copy of the visa or a copy of the green card.

I know that this whole process is very important, and we get paranoid about everything, it's natural. But in this case I doubt there will be problems. You could always ask somebody who works with FAFSA, and/or send an email to nvcinquiry@state.gov , just to be sure and to have peace of mind :)

That's the only thing I don't have, peace of mind. Anyway, thanks so much for clearing this confusion. I guess I'll apply and the semester doesn't start till August, and who know we'll be done with our interview by the, hopefully. Edited by Dkbose

I know, and we will do the mail forwarding thing. But on the other hand, I want to do everything "by the book" if I can. If I haven't got the IV and ds260 before we move I'll wait a little longer, maybe, but not too long.

Is your timeline updated?

I just joined Visa Journey as a member and I have been reading lot of posts here and preparing my visa documents based on the discussion coupled with NVC site information. Thanks everybody for the informations posted. I am late comer though. My status is in AOS review status for both my beloved wife and step daughter and waiting for DS-261 review to be completed. Married close to one year ago. Since it is vacation for the kids, we decided to go to the foreign country to join my wife and step daughter. But stil waiting patiently for IV invoice and further steps to cross in the journey.

That is all the intro. Now the question. is there anything need to considered special for the step daughter visa? Anybody has gone through the visa journey by lanes of both spouse and step daughter visa processing?

My wish and prayers are with you all.

Finally got an e-mail response this morning from nvcinquiry@state.gov regarding my husband's change of address/moving the embassy process from Bogotá to Buenos Aires. I sent the two e-mails May 24, so it took 16 business days. This is what the response said:

The correspondence submitted is currently under review. An appropriate action will be taken once this review is completed.

So, 16 business days just to get someone to read it, and now they need to complete a review. I included seven attachments with the e-mail I sent showing he is living and working in Argentina legally. Passport bio page, passport entry stamp to Argentina, copy of his valid Argentine I.D. (two pages), copy of the document showing he is paying taxes as of April 2014, translation of that document and translation certification signed by me. That had better be enough. Hopefully the review won't take long.

In other news, I was finally able to FedEx the AOS/IV stuff to my parents' house in the U.S. yesterday. When my mom gets back from a trip this weekend, she will sign the I-864A and they can finally send our AOS package. I am a little worried about the domicile stuff, but I am trying not to think about it. I included everything I could. We'll just have to wait and see what happens.

In your signature you say that you're going to send the AOS and IV packages together. Are you doing this before paying the IV fee? I'm just trying to see what people are doing when faced with the delay between submitting the DS-261 and receiving the IV invoice.

Great news!! We got a case complete. May 19th for us. We are so excited!! :goofy::dance::goofy:

Congratulations to you!
