Hello

i am in panic mode. 2012 accountant filed single. She will bring me the new tax papers to be sent to the IRS changing to MFS. 2013 she has me as HOH , i have my son here . Is that correct or do i have to change that too. 2011 unemployed.

Man this is the topic of the week. Changnoi lit a fire under everyone! I don't think you can file MFS and HOH, I thought it's one or the other but I could be wrong. I am wrong, ignore that.

Definitely get 2012 changed as filing single is not an option (if you were married in 2012).

As for 2013, if you qualify for HOH (read the criteria on IRS's website), then that filing status is fine.

Call them tonight! Worst case scenario - the quicker you know, the faster you'll be able to resolve the problem.

Ok I got a checklist for financial evidence.. The first time around I sent taxes, pay stubs, letter from employer.. What more can they want??

Has anyone submitted supporting docs for IV before paying the fees for IV? If that is possible, everyone that is waiting for IV fee to open up can send the docs, that way by the time your fees are ready to pay, your docs will be all scanned and in the queue to be reviewed. I sent AOS and IV docs together for my in-laws' using AOS cover sheet and had no problem. I am not sure how it works, but just a thought... Might be able to save few weeks, if it is possible.

"Nonresident alien spouse. You are considered unmarried for head of household purposes if your spouse was a nonresident alien at any time during the year and you do not choose to treat your nonresident spouse as a resident alien. However, your spouse is not a qualifying person for head of household purposes. You must have another qualifying person and meet the other tests to be eligible to file as a head of household."

That is what my accountant stated too . My qualifying person is our Son who lives with me. My accountant said to leave 2013 as is .

I agree with k.dlg 100%. If there is a check list (hopefully there isn't). You're delaying yourself by not calling. It's best to find out - and if it's good news, you'll be super glad you called!

I've come to the conclusion that most newcomers don't read the first post; they just jump to the last page and post their question with no reading.

I came to that conclusion over the weekend lol

It dawned on me when I clicked to the last page and then started reading backwards - it makes this thread a bit more humorous that way

What date did you receive your fake checklist for the IV, and did you receive it shortly after AOS approval? Wondering if there's a correlation between that date and CC.

We made it! No checklist! Thank you EVERYONE for all the help and the words of wisdom and love!

(FYI: I didn't have a lawyer, my husband has been deployed for pretty much all our journey, so he wasn't any help and English is not my first language, but I read and read and reread and asked questions when needed and I made it)

Ah ok, yeah me too (1 business day). Even though I knew it was fake bc the agent told me I was getting one even though they knew I already had submitted the documents, I still read over it at least twice just to make sure. This process makes you paranoid about everything.
