NVC Filers - June 2014

NVC is backlogged from the tail end of the USCIS backlog at NVC, the sudden rush of approved I-130s at NVC and on top of that the Diversity Visa applicants I believe are at NVC right now. That all happened right around the same time, so that part does make sense (they're sifting through an unusual amount of mail, as the Agent told me as well the other day).

I'm still hesitant to believe the overtime thing. Perhaps they did the Saturday after Memorial Day, but beyond that I doubt it. Last week it was taking 16 business days to review mail, now it's lingering around 21 business days. Overtime should be having the opposite result lol

Oh no, please no, not the Diversity Visa applicants, i believe their applications are in Kentucky. Breathe, exclude some X00000 from the backlog:))

any progress on youe case?We submitted ASO on 7th may and is approve but for IVy submitted 4th june and waiting for CC.Got false checklist to submit IVy document even though we already submitted.

Waiting is too long

No I haven't called NVC for like 2 weeks.. We had gotten a checklist and that was entered on the 28th of May and the IV documents were scanned in on the 23rd of May. So I think we probably won't hear anything until next week.

If THAT'S the case, then this is all USCIS' fault! They're like an annoying ex that won't go away!

Sooooooooo I had my second interaction with Joy today. "There was mail received on May 16th and it is currently being reviewed. Please give us up to 30 business days. Have you completed the DS-260 online yet?"

"The DS-260 was completed on May 14th. So, the IV is currently under review?"

"Yes ma'am."

"Thank you so much! You have have a nice weekend!"

I could hear Joy smiling. She perked up and said "You too! Thank you!!"

The barcode is purely just your case number. There's a wiki entry on this site somewhere which shows how to make your own barcoded cover sheets. I made one so we could send our docs in sooner since they were taking so long to review but decided against it incase I'd made a mistake. Once the cover sheet was available I compared my mock up and it looked exactly the same. Anyway, it makes sense that you can use the AOS cover sheet as long as you address it to Attn: CMR and not Attn: CMR AOS, so it goes to the correct department.

Second point, USCIS wait times. I've got mixed feeling on this. Yes it's great that the USCIS have caught up so nobody else has to experience what we went through (I wasn't an 11 month USCIS'er but not far off it at 9.5 months). Yes it's not very fair for those who have waited a long time see people who have waited 6 months complain that they have waited to long, it's painful and brings back memories, but it's not a game of who waited the longest, and it seems people are starting the "You can't complain, I waited longer than you" posts. Sure those getting approved in a month or two, yes it does rub salt into the wounds. It makes me think I could have filed this year and be in the same situation just now, and not had all that extra waiting around for something to happen. The thing that p!ssing me off, is the fact that USCIS catching up has caused the NVC backlog. I mean in the past 3 months they must have processed about 11 months of applications and sent them all to the NVC at the same time. That's what is annoying me, we waited all this time at USCIS because of the backlog, and now we are taking longer at NVC because USCIS cleared their backlog and made it NVC's problems. But, that isn't the fault of any petitioner, and I congratulate (with a hint of jealousy) all those getting fast(er) approval notices from USCIS.

Great info on the barcode! So it looks like we can use the AOS cover sheet to send an IV package as long as we change from "Attn: CMR AOS" to "Attn: CMR". It's also confirmed with multiple NVC Reps and Supervisors. Do I go ahead and send my IV package with the AOS cover sheet? I'm not sure. <_<

I couldn't help laughing when I read, "It's not a game of who waited the longest". You're funny! Maybe I have a strange sense of humor?

I'm so happy for people who got their NOA2 fast! It's too bad that they didn't auto expedite my application from overseas. Well, I applied in Oct, 2013 so the timing was a little off. :bonk:

I think timing is everything when it comes to applying for a Green Card. Some people get lucky while others get unlucky depending on when you send your application. Yes, it's not exactly fair, but life isn't fair, unfortunately.

Thanks you very much guys.

For AOS package i am collecting papers already and i am wondering about two things.

1. Because of my wife doesn't work i got my father in law as joint sponsor. So my wife hasn't worked and doesn't have any tax information. At time of filling I-864 by my wife (first sponsor) do we need to write in financial info none everywhere and + make letter with explanation why we put none?

2. How much time does it take to get IRS after calling them?

3. My wife and i dont have much domicile established in US, like we dont have property we dont rent, nothing important belongs to us. Just what happened positive for it is that my wife went in USA for establishing Domicile like making our living condition ready, organizing home and so on. So do i need to mention it in there?

This is amazing group here, so fast responds are very rare to another similar groups. Thanks

1. Yes, write $0 on everything and add a note that says she is not employed, has no income and as such, has not been required to file taxes.

2. I don't know. Maybe someone else can help.

3. If your wife went back to the US to get ready for you then she has established domicile in the US. She is domiciled (ie: is living) in the US. That's really all the proof they should need.

Starting Friday morning with a good solid round of fist-shaking here on the NVC thread! Hang in there everyone. I hope you all have something to look forward to this weekend :)

Rawr! :protest::protest::protest:

You mean a July (not August) interview? There is a chance that you can still get a July interview, right? :)

If they're just waiting for AOS info it could be that the IV hasn't been processed at all. That means it's pretty unlikely that they'd get a July interview, but August is still totally possible! Good vibes!

Yes, it's not exactly fair, but life isn't fair, unfortunately.

...and we're right in the middle of the pack in the "game." We didn't have the really horrendous timelines from the early part of the year, so we don't have the right to righteous indignation, but we didn't get the "overseas expedites" (which still makes me kind of laugh because Canada is considered "overseas") or the really fast processing times, either! I feel like I've waited a long time but I don't feel like I have much right to gripe about it! :clock::cry:

Of course, I totally feel like I have every right to complain about the fact that NVC's computers (not even a human or a lost document, just a stupid software update) have cost me 2 weeks when I should be submitting my IV fee, package and DS260 by now! :ranting::protest::ranting:

Is your timeline updated?
