I'm just stunned here, have to comment on this...you sent in I-130 on 4/23/14 and it was approved 5/13/14??? How can this be? It took them 366 days to approve ours from Taiwan and case received by NVC 5/29 but we still haven't received a case number!

How long does the NVC take to issue a case number and is there anything we can do before this besides get everything prepared???

USCIS cleared its backlog.

It takes about a month from NVC receiving your case to issuing a case number. Actually it might be more like 3-4 weeks right now. Use this time to prepare your affidavit of support form and collecting any supporting documentation you need, so that when next steps become available, you'll be confident and ready to send your package right away. If you finish that, start getting the beneficiary's civil documents ready for the IV package too :)

Sorry to hear about how long you've waited. If the case was received on 5/29, I'd start calling June 20 or so for your case number. Mine was available in 23 calendar days.

Hi everyone,

Been lurking around for a while now, but got tired of waiting so I decided to join the conversation.

I received my NoA 2 saying that the application has been approved and they will be forwarding the application to the Dept of State NVC in Portsmouth, NH last 5/20/14. Been waiting since then but I haven't received or heard anything from the NVC. Is this normal? It's been 24 days since they forwarded and haven't heard from them yet. Is there something I can do to follow-up on it even if I haven't received any case number yet?

Thanks

USCIS cleared its backlog???!!! You mean that's not a typo and its only taking one month now to process I-130s, that is sickening...I mean good for those people, but not for the rest of us...

My faith in government bureaucracy, never strong, has been decimated with this process...

But yes, I have had all this stuff ready for months!

You need to read the wiki from page 1 of this thread. TSC took a month before they physically shipped my NOA2.

I see someone else has already referred you to the Wiki for essential reading, but I waited weeks before my case arriving in the NVC. You will be waiting a while if you want them to notify you though, you are much better phoning them every day at this stage until you have confirmation they have received your case and assigned your case and invoice numbers. Good luck and welcome to the NVC thread.

First of all you should check USCIS website with your receipt number, it will show the exact date that USCIS shipped your case to NVC. Then allow 1-2weeks and start calling NVC to know if they have received your case file, when you are told the exact date NVC received your case, you should allow 20-25days to get your case number or IIN. Mine took 23days to get my case number and I got it by calling NVC. You can check my signature and other timelines to guild you. Edited by EOC4ever
