Very fishy, why in the world would they not let us send both packets under one barcode to begin with? Why are they advising it now? May be they changed the policy? Too many unknown questions and confusion.

What does the bar code stand for? Is it a unique identifier that routes the AOS documents to the AOS department and the IV documents to the IV department? Are the two bar codes any different?

They must serve some sort of purpose when it comes to scanning. I wonder if scanning the AOS barcode shows AOS documents and if scanning the IV documents shows IV.

It may also have something to do with the processing fees being paid.

Can the person who sent his civil documents in using the AOS cover sheet ask them if they scanned his package? Do they recognize it as civil documents when they scanned it?

Per my understanding both barcodes look the same. Not sure if they are identical though? This is a tricky part. They many look the same but may not be same. Who knows they are barcodes!

Good point about someone who used aos cover sheet to send civil docs. They can confirm if his/her docs were scanned as civil or aos??

Hi, I am the beneficiary from singapore. I got my NOA1 on 16th Dec 2013. According to timelines here and following on NSC case numbers my case number should have been processed. But its not!>_< T_T. Should i call USCIS customer service if my file still has not been touched in a week's time?

Sigh i know i still have a long way to go after NOA2. But my NOA2 feels especially long.....sobz

Call USCIS as frequently as you like. Beyond that, it's anyone's guess as to how quickly you will be approved. We waited 9 months between NOA1 and NOA2 and I know others here waited longer than that as well. Unfortunately you won't get a lot of sympathy here on only a 6 month wait...

I think the bar codes are merely your Case Number in bar code style. I don't think there is any other magic attached to it. Just my opinion....

Hey guys - I was reviewing my DS-260 and realized I made a minor typo in my wife's previous address. I added an extra T to the commune that she lived at. I got a case complete, but am wondering if this will be an issue at the interview.

Thanks!

Barcodes can look the same but contain different information when scanned. The person who sent theirs will be able to confirm through the operator if their documents were correctly scanned or not.

However, this shortcut might generate a checklist if it the barcode correlates to payment clearing your bank. If the barcode represents payments being processed then the AOS barcode would not have IV fee payment info...

Very Good point. If they are linked to IV payment then it could generate a checklist. Who knows? Not even sure if it is worth taking the gamble?

I did some reading on bar codes and this is what I found:

"Barcodes are often used to separate batches of paper documents for image scanning. In this scenario, barcodes attached to separator pages contain only generic information. Adding barcode pages adds a negligible amount to the document preparation time, but it saves time further down the line as users are able to load batches of documents into the scanner at the same time.

This is a very basic use of barcodes in document processing. However, it significantly speeds up the scanning process as human intervention is minimised."

This indicates that the AOS and IV Barcodes serve two different purposes and it is likely that sending the AOS barcode coversheet with IV documents could result in the documents being scanned as AOS docs. In other words, vaguely knowing how the boys and girls at the NVC roll, there's a good chance that this can cause loss of documents or checklists. We can learn from the person that sent it..I hope I am wrong and it can save us all a valuable 2-3 weeks.

How couldhe be dumb! That attorney!he sent our AOS package last april.. but he didnt send our IV package!! Wth! Im so furious right now.

You should fire him, send an email to NVC to remove him and petitioner to be the agent; do everything urself, this forum is amazing and no need for pointless lawyers. I had one and thank god once i got my fees invoiced i removed him bc i knew i will be up to things more than anyone else.

Good luck,

Ask for money back that is no service at all other than filling things up.

This lawyers make me so mad

Last thing I want is documents being lost or get a checklist for something silly.

I completed my ds261 on may 24 so might as well wait for couple more weeks.
