It seems like there is no point in calling NVC again. Do you guys think calling NVC office again will make them to review your case sooner?

I don't think so. I would think they have separate staff to answer phone calls and separate staff to work on cases, so the one who receives calls do nothing more than giving you status.

Thanks nightingale! So u mean we don't need a joint sponsor because of the fact that we haven't paid full 2013 taxes?

I'm sure someone has dealt with this while I slept, but just in case (and before I read 10 pages) No. You said your hubby was making over the poverty threshhold. That, regardless of whether or not he worked a full year last year, is what they're concerned with. I meant you wouldn't have to submit earlier tax years (which you don't have anyway). You will have to submit proof that he is still working at a job that keeps him over the poverty level, as on the i864p. Hence the pay stubs. If it's close to the wire, the NVC may still ask for a joint sponsor. But if you are confident that you will qualify without one, go ahead and submit.

I'm curious by nature, tell me why you hate Air Canada? (F) (L) (F)

I've been bumped off flights (and Westjet doesn't bump people), in my experience their flights are delayed or just late way more often than Westjet, and the fact that they continually get federal bailouts, they are still powerful enough to bury all but their most determined competition. It may be because I remember the very beginnings of Westjet, but I have found them much more friendly, customer-service oriented, and willing to go the extra mile to make a good impression.

Also, to use the example of yesterday... Now, as I said, the rep I spoke to was very nice, and I told her that.... But the situation was: hubby goofed up booking a flight home to visit his Mom. (wrong return date, by a month). So he cancelled the second flight and took a "credit" and took the train back to me. So now we're planning a trip this summer, and thought "great! we have a credit!" so I called, waited 45 minutes on hold, only to find out that due to the "Change fee", using the credit would actually cost me $75 more! Yes, the change fee was $75 more than the entire credit. So I asked her why noone had warned us about this. She said she didn't know. I escalated, and told the supervisor that this situation feels like really bad customer service to me. He was not helpful at all, so we're just out the money for the credit.

The thing is, hubby's mom would have been thrilled to see him again, and if we had known that we were basically throwing that money away by "taking the credit" we probably would have sent hubby back down on the train and fly back, a month later. And made some mom points in the bargain.

This is the kind of customer service (or lack thereof) I've come to expect from Air Canada. Rant over.

Is your timeline updated?

Hey all,

Still a ways to go for me, at the stage like many others waiting upon good news of a CC. Wife (sponsor) is here in Canada with me so she needs to the proof of domicile thing. We already sent in a notarized letter from her parents, bank statement with our North Carolina address, and car insurance quote with our N.C. address. If that's not enough, she's also getting a job offer letter sent to us here we can either send to them if they like, or take to my interview. I hope that's enough. We have no kids to enroll in school, and won't be hiring a moving company as we live in a small apartment and will be selling or donating what furniture etc. we have. Congrats to the recent CC's and good luck to all those in their upcoming interviews!

Although you don't need to call (as no, it won't speed anything up), I still recommend calling once a day to have the latest, up-to-date status of your case. But, that's just me. Everyone can do what they wish with their own case ;)

Yes, I agree. :) That's why I am asking/saying - I see many posts saying that they have called and get the same answer up to 30 days to receive IV invoice etc. I think there is no point in calling once you receive case number and invoice number.Afterwards, you just check online for DS-261, AOS Fees and subsequently for IV invoice. Am I right?

I tend to agree with kk2014, and I don't usually call NVC unless I have to. I didn't have to call NVC for my case number since I received it by email when my DS-261 form and AOS fee were ready. I thought I wasted my time calling for my case number.

However, it looks like you don't get CC and Interview emails right away so I'm planning to call NVC when I get to that stage.

Dear Ladies and Gents waiting:

CALL NVC NOW

My interview for Paris is on July 17th!

And I can't stop crying!!!!!

CALL THEM LIFEONHOLD!!!!!

Yay! Awesome!

INTERVIEW JULY 3!!!!

:dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

I'm so happy for you!

Sorry, I think this has been asked and answered before, but I'm having a bit of a brain melt today....

Once the AOS and IV packages have been reviewed, and if no checklist is issued, does the CEAC portal update to reflect this, or does it always show "N/A" under those sections?

I think that right now, it will always show N/A. Presumably at some point they will reprogram it so that you will be able to access more information about your case by looking online - so then that column would say "received" or "processing" or "accepted" or "checklist" or whatever. But not yet. Now we just see the framework but no useful data.

Interview in Costa Rica July 15th @ noon

HOORAY !!!!!

Yes! Woo hoo! And I see later that you got your flights booked! Awesome! Have a great visit!

INTERVIEW JULY 22nd AT 1PM

That's so great! I love your conga line! "Got the interview, hey! Got the interview, HEY!"

Hello all I know this may come across as a silly question but under all the stress with everything else i seem to double ask myself alot lol. When filling out the support document it asks for annual salary well as it is only june we dont really have a total at the moment so did most of you ball park it based on the average made at the time? and is this acceptable to do?

For that question asking for current annual income, if you're salary, put down your current salary amount. If you're paid by the hour, then do: wage x hours worked per week x 52 (or however many weeks you work in a year). Put that amount.

If you include an employment letter, make sure the amount in the letter matches the amount you put down in the I-864 form.

Hi AustinCanada,

At least you've got a short trip compared to us! We're going from Toronto to coastal N.C. I'll try and get my timeline done. Will have to look back at my receipts and notices. I am so stressed out with all this just like most of us are, so try not to think about it so much other than when I'm on here. Just playing the waiting game as there's not much I can do to make it any faster. I figure calling them might give me some info, but don't think it'll really help much. Good luck!

Question on AOS and possible checklist-

I am the petitioner but I do not have any income. I did not know that the affidavit of support has to have the petitioner on it.

So I just had my dad fill out the AOS on his own (that is he being the only joint sponsor). Now when my packet gets reviewed (scanned by NVC on 05-19) what do you think they will ask me to provide with? I did not file my taxes for 2012 and 2013 since I was enrolled in school full-time and did not work.

Any suggestions/ thoughts as to what would happen ? Your response would be appreciated.

I am betting 100% that they will just request that you also submit a full I-864 because every petitioner must fill one out, regardless if you have an income or not. :)
