Ugh! Checklist email today for my AOS.. Haven't even read it yet.. How discouraging..

Bummer I got one too a few days ago. Just dust yourself off and keep putting one foot in front of the other. This is just something we have to live through.

Just got off the phone.. talk to a guy (cant remember his name).. he's nice.. still not CC..he said that they're not yet opening our docs for review, though he told me that it was on their system last may 13.. have to wait 30 business days... blah blah blah.. guess i'll stick to the 30 business days.. does it mean 5 days a week? Hehe.. just asking..

That was a bust. Agent Kim (I think) first got the embassy wrong, then tried to tell me my case # was wrong.

Then she said my IV has not been reviewed yet and it will take 6 weeks to review. I said the web site only says 2-4 weeks, why is there such a discrepancy? She said I need to give it 30 business days. Then I asked what date range they were working on and she said "ma'am, that is information I am not willing to give you".

So much for today being the day.

I HATE when they waste your call. I always feel ripped off. I really wish they would set up a "self-serve" website so we could all stop wasting our time calling and getting no informaiton. Grrrr

CASE COMPLETE !!!!!

I am in TOTAL disbelief right now. No checklist!!!!!

Just called NVC, got case complete today! So happy. Thank you for all who contributed in this forum which helped me get through this process without any checklist. Good luck to all! By the way aos fee never changed to n/a for me...

Yes, I'm sorry I was trying to post quickly on my break. My checklist letter says:

"We have finished reviewing your case. We will tell you when we set an interview

date for your case. Please do not contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in

LONDON, GREAT BRITAIN AND NORTHERN IRELAND about your

interview until we give you the date."

I just don't like that the items I have to bring are the two exact items I just submitted in my checklist on May 12th. I don't know if they lost them or they just didn't review them at all.

So my case was closed today and I got the email at 4:05pm EST.

The London medical was 230 GBP, which is roughly $385. Absolutely extortionate!

Without doubt extortion, since you have to go to the Dr's on their list. They have you by the throat and they know it. They know in most countries that it's expensive and most people don't have it. They must think the foreign spouse is paying for it I bet. I'm lucky my husband has no problem paying for it, but is well aware they are thieves.

If the supervisor reviews it and makes the decision that the document is not the right one what happens?

Send an attachment of it to the Embassy your interview will be ask if it's the one they need.

Not always Austin. I never received an email for my IV fee, it was just available one day. I wouldn't trust NVC to send me anything. Hey, at least you don't have to wait 45+ minutes to access CEAC

Honestly speaking I have wondered that too. Couple times that how do u post day and night. And yup I can totally understand ur frustration :|

Hahahaa I bet, I also keep the computer on while I do other things and come every once in a while to keep up and if I can't you will see tons of my posts all at once usually very late at night. Such is life.

Yes, you should get an email with the invoice attached just like the AOS one. :-) Fingers crossed you get it ASAP!

Julie had ALL her vaccinations and titers done before the medical. So the $475 is just for the exam, bloodwork and x-ray.

I cannot remember how much I had to pay in Hong Kong when I got my Australian residency - but I don't think it was over $300.

It's definitely a rip-off - especially since we have to pay over $30 for the train ticket to get to Brisbane!

I think Australia must be one of the most expensive places for the immigration medical. In Melbourne we have been quoted $405 and $450 (not including vaccinations). Of course there are only 2 places in our area to choose from, so it's not like you have much choice. And somehow I replied to one of the doctors instead of forwarding his email to my husband and said "The other place is $450, bend over". So it sounded like I was telling to doc off, when I was really venting my frustration to my husband. That was fun to explain. lol

it is scary if USCIS has better timelines than NVC. NVC need a shake up to get back to normal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The actual timelines are BS!!!!!

I think up to April (case #s assigned in April), NVC was pretty good, it was taking 2 weeks to review packets (2 weeks +/- 2 days).

Around the end of April, it started to creep up to 3 weeks and then 3 weeks +.

Now I think it is almost up to 30 calendar days. If they continue like this (USCIS getting faster and NVC getting overloaded), nobody can expect how bad it is going to get.

I think they should transfer cases to the embassies/consulates to deal with once case # is assigned, at least until they get back to the normal processing times

If they send them to the Embassies they will be so pissed off they will put everyone on permanent AP!

I have a package waiting to be reviewed as well and I received a Case Complete on Monday. My other package was not even scanned until June 6th though, it was just additional documents I forgot.

Did the person that you spoke to say that you will get a new Case Complete date? What do they mean by "update" your case?

What they did with OP is exactly what NVC should be doing now if they are serious about tackling this huge backlog. They created it themselves with their stupid checklists over silly minutiae such as insisting on translations where none are required as per DOS guidelines, or their phobia against rounding up amounts to the nearest dollar (all they need to verify is the amount to be above a case-specific cutoff, after all !!!).

If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would venture to accuse them of deliberately creating this crisis in the first place for some hidden agenda.

They should review, checklist if there is a need, and promptly ship cases to consulates. This way, applicants are forewarned of their case deficiencies, and its their loss if they ignore remedying their own documents before consular interviews.

My wife just had her medical yesterday. Exam fee in Peru is $167. Not too bad, except that they made her get 5 different vaccinations for an extra cost of $198!!! She was fully prepared, had all her records, and we reviewed that her vaccines were up to date but somehow they managed to add more. Sadly, this is a Peruvian thing, people always trying to pull a fast one.

I logged into CEAC and noticed that the AOS was available, I'd checked 4 mins earlier and it wasn't. Just as I spotted it, the email came through within about 60 seconds.

For the IV fee, I received the email, and it didn't show on the CEAC site for about 35 mins. So from my experience, Yes, you will receive an email. It didn't stop me checking the site about 100 times a day though
