Hey y'all. I've been quietly going through the NVC process, but ran into some trouble in paradise a few days ago. Long story short, I'm at a point where I have paid the AOS fee and submitted the package, so I went to log in on https://ceac.state.gov/ceac/ to see if I could pay the IV fee yet. I typed in my case number and IID, and selected my role, as per usual. However, when I clicked 'Continue', this is what came up:

The selected Case Number and Invoice Identification Number combination you entered does not match our records. Please try again or contact the National Visa Center for further assistance.

I don't know if this plays a role in it, but we did file an expedite request on the grounds that my husband is in the military and getting stationed overseas, and last I heard the request had been forwarded to the embassy in Frankfurt (that was on May 22nd, and every time I have called, most recently on Thursday I think, they've told me that the request is currently under review in Frankfurt).

If anyone knows what this error message could mean, please let me know, because I have no idea what to do next.

Hi... Ok so...

I have just done this, and my certificate was issued by HK in May, i do not know if the london consulate has it yet, however.....

So i was in HK "officially" for 11.5 months, however i had to put July - July due to the fact you cannot specify exact dates. When it is so close to 12 months they will probably ask for it, hence I just put 12 months and assumed I would need it!

It says on the HK website for a PCC you need a letter, I emailed the HK police department that deals with this (eo-cncc-ib@police.gov.hk) and said that the NVC does not provide letters however could i use the (attached and highlighted) letter from them (the invoice or 1st email attachment) and a copy from the website showing the requirement for a PCC from HK.... they wrote back and said yes. So i printed both and highlighted everything relevant (case number, requirement from the website that i needed the PCC etc) and they processed the application.

The only issue is that you need to pay in HK dollar, I mailed to a friend and she put a cheque from her in the envelope and posted to the HK Police.

To be honest, i was so worried about this, it turned out to be mega easy. You will get Mr Tsang reply to that email address within 2-5 days and he will be very helpful!

If you need any more advice now or during please ask, I was so worried and there is not a lot of info on this on the web!

Oh my gosh. Thank you SO much for this information. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate it.

I will send an email to them tomorrow and hopefully hear back from Mr Tsang.

I will be able to get a HK dollar bank draft. Once I get the IV invoice - been waiting since 8th May - I will send off for the HK a Police Certificate. If I get check listed then NVC will get it sooner rather than later and if I don't get check listed well then they will get it anyway. It would be good if HK would send it here to my home but I do t think they will do that.

Let me know how you go?

No worries, i wrote to the London embassy and asked if they had it but that will take a week for them to get back to me.

This is however what happened in my situation, I'm guessing (knowing the process driven Chinese) that this will be the same for everyone but perhaps not.

All I know is that they are very helpful .... oh and they will only send to the embassy, not you at home...

Hi everyone,

I have a tax question. I ordered the 3 tax transcripts (2012, 2011, 2010). I cannot get 2013 because I filed for an extension. Will that be a problem with NVC? I do have a copy of my extension application so I can show that.

Second question: what exactly is needed when using ONLY assets for spousal support. I live abroad so my income doesn't count, I will be using ASSETS ONLY and am not sure what documentation I need. Just a bank statement showing the amount I have in my account?

They will send to the consulate where your interview will be ... the NVC know this and will be expecting it, you will get a checklist but you can ignore it (i have been told).

I lived in Guildford and Kingston for many years while I worked in London in York now :)

Some petition categories are listed by USCIS as eligible for Premium Processing service (http://www.uscisprocessingtimes.org/uscis-premium-processing-service/). If you have a PP eligible petition, can afford it, and are willing to accept the higher risk of RFE/Denial, then you can file a form with them, pay the $2K+ PP fee on top of the petition regular fee, and they will guarantee giving you an initial response within 15 days or you get your money back.

The error you're seeing is very common. Pretty much everyone sees a variation before they're invoiced the AOS. Just make sure your numbers are correct by calling the NVC on Monday and always use IE.

As per the expedite, like I said, only the NVC can give you that information. If the case were headed to the embassy already, your CEAC would say "in transit"

I saw one before AOS invoice, too, and it was one of the ones listed in the wiki. The only reason I'm confused is because I haven't seen anything about that kind of error message anywhere. But if you say it's common, I'll take your word for it and just wait to talk to them tomorrow.

Thanks again.

I have a question about the IV package.

-Original or Certified Copy of beneficiary's birth certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY - So they need the original copy? I only have one copy and it will be hard to get a certified copy. Will i get it back? Wouldnt I need a copy of my birth cert at the interview?

-Original or Certified Copy of marriage certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY - Same with this one, although I have several copies of these so shouldnt be an issue

**I am the beneficiary**

Just trying to read ahead in this process

thank you
