The I-864 form is actually on USCIS's website That's the only place I'd suggest downloading it from as that will be the most up to date form.

I agree Saylin. Whilst our attorney sourced all Forms when I started the whole process - naively - on our own I sourced all information from USCIS website. Goodness me, if they aren't up to date who is!

Just read Saylins WIki posts and work through it all slowly, making sure you have all the required documentation otherwise you could set yourself back a month with checklists.

Thank you very much, am doing my best even went to the IRS office with my parents and requested a letter where they state my parents did not have to file for 2011, 2012 and 2013 oddly being a government agency they were reallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly nice I was shocked and impressed. I think I have pretty much everything else that will be needed. Now, just need a whole lot of prayers. ty again

I never could understand the US authorities' fixation on using black ink. I wish someone could explain why?

A bit forward I know, and I did consider the OP might be the petitioner so I'm guilty of worse than you think. Nothing the OP said hints that this fault applies to either of them. However, I do hope what I said will give them pause to consider all pros and cons of bringing the petitioner to such a critical interview.

And, we all have our own faults and eccentricities. When it comes to her own personal finances, my economics professor of a wife is a blithering idiot (phobic, more like it). I'm the same when tact is warranted at certain situations. Just the other day, I couldn't stop myself from snapping at a young professor who wasted an hour of my Dean's and my time arguing a matter that was concluded during the first 5 minutes of the meeting.

We're here to help and dish out some tough love every now and then. I wish I got some tough love when I first arrived to the States for my grad school, but that is another story(s)

So I woke up this morning to find that my face has been hijacked by posion ivy thanks to my lovely cat. Like seriously, this makes me rethink being a cat lady. Just had to add that tidbit after our conversation about being cat ladies.

Which is why all my four cats are inside cats. No more rushing to the Vet because someone kicked one and broke their femur or threw battery acid on them or have someone decide cats belong to everyone and steal them. I've had all that happen to me and no more inside only.

So very sorry this happened to you. Hope you feel better soon.

If you're referring to EP (electronic processing), Iran is not an eligible country.

If you're referring to simply receiving emails from NVC, it's much quicker if you just call them and give over both email addresses. But you'll need to wait for your case number to be assigned to do this

Is that only if you have lived for 12 months or more. Plus some countries don't issue anymore like Singapore for example. They only issue to Singapore Citizens.

I lived in Hong Kong for 11 months and Singapore for 15 but cannot get police clearances without NVC checklist. I am thinking I may not even get check listed for them anyway. Can always hope!

If you need a HK police certificate like i did, you can use a print-out of the invoice email as it has your NVC case number

This may be a stupid question, but what do you mean you paid premium for the service? What service? And who did you pay?

If you have a PP eligible petition, can afford it, and are willing to accept the higher risk of RFE/Denial, then you can file a form with them, pay the $2K+ PP fee on top of the petition regular fee, and they will guarantee giving you an initial response within 15 days or you get your money back.

You have to realize that back then the internet was not invented yet. All you had was snail mail and very expensive long-distance calling. I prepared myself really well, including (crucially) reading many issues of MAD magazine, so cultural goofs were few and far in between. The worst experience I had was buying a used car.

However, since it's a slow weekend day, let me share with you a little story that is both hilariously funny and infuriating at the same time:

One afternoon while I was doing my Masters degree so many years ago, a friend of mine (Awad, his real name) paid me a visit with a puzzled and deeply hurt look asking for help to fathom why his professor yelled at him and threw him out during a class discussion! Now, to understand the enormity of the situation, let me explain two things about Awad; first, his command of English is mediocre at best, but to his credit that never stopped him from engaging in any conversation he comes across. For example, he would interpret the word "drugs" as narcotics no matter the context of its use. Second, he comes from a socio-cultural background where females are treated as potential source of shame when they are unmarried, and little more than property of their husbands when they are.

In his words: "This morning the professor opened a hypothetical discussion about the dilemma of a man who has a wife who needs lots of drugs everyday, they're very expensive and he can no longer afford to pay for them. What could be his options? I raised my hand to participate and when my turn came I said: `I would divorce this good for nothing wife and marry another!' " :wow:

Needless to say, Awad got a heavy dose of tough love that morning.

Now, 25 years later, Awad is a professor of Child Psychology! And, yes... He's still a blithering idiot.

This is only a drop in the bucket. You wanna talk about the power of money, look up the EB-5 investor visa category. Bring a $500,000 to the table and that's the only qualification you need to get an IV approved. Canada, Australia, UK and many other nations have similar programs.

Hi... Ok so...

I have just done this, and my certificate was issued by HK in May, i do not know if the london consulate has it yet, however.....

So i was in HK "officially" for 11.5 months, however i had to put July - July due to the fact you cannot specify exact dates. When it is so close to 12 months they will probably ask for it, hence I just put 12 months and assumed I would need it!

It says on the HK website for a PCC you need a letter, I emailed the HK police department that deals with this (eo-cncc-ib@police.gov.hk) and said that the NVC does not provide letters however could i use the (attached and highlighted) letter from them (the invoice or 1st email attachment) and a copy from the website showing the requirement for a PCC from HK.... they wrote back and said yes. So i printed both and highlighted everything relevant (case number, requirement from the website that i needed the PCC etc) and they processed the application.

The only issue is that you need to pay in HK dollar, I mailed to a friend and she put a cheque from her in the envelope and posted to the HK Police.

To be honest, i was so worried about this, it turned out to be mega easy. You will get Mr Tsang reply to that email address within 2-5 days and he will be very helpful!

If you need any more advice now or during please ask, I was so worried and there is not a lot of info on this on the web!
