Were you already married in 2012? In 2013 definitely should be married. They just asked my husband to write a letter explaining why he filed single in 2013 and we were already married. But he fixed it already and he will send me the docs and the letter with his signature and notarized.

We were married January 2013, just like you guys! Just a little later. :)

Okay so it seems like they're only being picky with 2013 taxes. Good to know. I haven't filed 2013 taxes yet.

Dear TM713,

I too sailed through USCIS, though I paid premium for the service. I do however understand some of the genuine frustration voiced in this thread re this matter. The blame falls squarely on NVC's shoulders. By treating all incoming mail on first-in first-served basis, they're allowing fast trackers to delay everyone who's unfortunate enough to get a checklist. The situation would've been resolved nicely if responses to checklists are given priority over initial submissions.

Looking at what I can see from the whole picture, NVC seems to have not planned any contingencies to deal with the USCIS throughput surge that was expected since last year at least. Merely working the odd Saturday after the fact is a symptom of failed strategic management.

This may be a stupid question, but what do you mean you paid premium for the service? What service? And who did you pay?

One silly question, because me and my husband have been arguing about it:

*Does the Petitioner needs to be at the Beneficiary's interview?

(My husband is currently in the USA and I am in Portugal, interview will be in Paris, France)

The petitioner doesn't have to be there. If the interview is in July/August then I will most likely go to because I will be in Portugal. Thought I'd spend the summer here with him, but looks like it's not going to happen.

I'd like to double check one thing: You sign the I-864 form in black ink, correct? :huh2:

I read the I-864 instructions and it states, "Type or print legibly in black ink."

However, http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_for_Montreal_Beneficiaries_%E2%80%93_Electronic_Processing_and_New_Online_Forms states, "When signing forms, sign in BLUE ink. Do not sign in red, do not sign in black, sign in blue. Signing in black ink might make the officer think the form isn't an original, but a photocopy." :bonk:

I'm confused! :help:

3 days after interview and I am just now checking in.

First off, thank you to everyone who has congratulated my husband and me, and second, congratulations to all those case completes and those who have recieved interview dates.

Interview review:

We arrived in Ciudad Juarez on Sunday around 6pm. On Monday my husband left for his medical around 5am. (No appointment, you can just show up.) I waited for him at our hotel because of our 8 month old. He got back around 7:20am.

We went back at 2pm and picked up his results. On Tuesday his ASC appointment was at 7:20am. He left around 6:50 and was back around 7:20, so it was pretty fast.

Wednesday he left for his interview at 8:45. (9:15am interview) We waited for him at a nearby Denny's for breakfast. At 11:30 he got there with an APPROVAL!

Note: I made a folder for him with everything we submitted to NVC and a couple more things, and he was asked for the ONE thing he didn't take: MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE. But the officer told him not to worry about it and told him he was approved.

Next day during lunch around 2pm, his passport was at the DHL ready for pickup. We went to the border for port of entry, crossed over to Texas, and by 5am Friday morning we were in Houston.

Having my husband here feels like a dream. Thank you to everyone who helped along the way even if just to say they understood how I was feeling. Hang in there guys! There is a light at the end of the tunnel. :)

Awww.... Enjoy every moment, especially for the rest of us.

Good thing I gave my hubby a certified copy of my Birth Certificate when I saw him in the winter, just in case!

Thanks for the recap!

GOOD NEWS: as of June 6,2014 our case was completed!!! Now I'm curious. Are all baddies done scheduling July interview? We are at the Londoj embassy. Anyone at the London embassy who got their case complete the first week of the month?

Woot woot!!!! Congrats!

I've read people rushing to mail their AOS and IV packages and forgetting to include important documents or not spotting mistakes in their applications. We all know what that leads to! Checklist! And we all know what that means! Delaying the process for 1 month!

I've decided not to mail my AOS and IV packages ASAP. I'm giving myself at least a day to double check my packages. I don't think delaying for a day or two is going to make much difference. -_-

Yes, you are very wise. If I had to do it over again, I would have checked it a few more times but in my mind I had to get it in the post THAT day! Turns out it probably isn't going to even leave Australia until Tuesday anyway because of the Monday public holiday, so I not only wasted the money for express courier, but also now have to send another revised form that will probably end up getting there only a day or two after anyway.

My biggest regret was not saving the electronic version of the I-864, as I could have just changed the one item and re-printed, rather than re-fill out the whole thing again. That stupid tick box that says I am an American citizen is giving me an ulcer!

But, I am now trying to re-focus my energy into things I CAN control and just ran my first 5k in about 20 years! If I have to add another 30 days onto my wait, that give me time to get closer to my fitness goals. ha ha.

Perfect excuse for a Euro vacation, for the petitioner that is. ;)

The consensus here is: not required, though encouraged if the consulate allows it. My take (and I hope you won't take offence)... If the petitioner is a blithering idiot who doesn't read up, rehearse, respect the enormity of the situation or know when to keep his/her mouth shut, then he/she shouldn't be even in the same continent during the interview (YMMV). Go back a few pages to read about a horrendous example that ended in a visa denial.

Not very nice since the "petitioners" you are talking about is someone else's spouse. Maybe people like being married to "blithering idiots" as you say. And I'm actually being serious lol.

Up to you, but as I suggest in the wiki, sign in blue ink.

Hi Soloenta,

I know you have been waiting for a long time, and I'm really sorry for that. We were prepared to wait a long time, too, and it was such a joyous relief when we didn't have to. I hope your case moves forward very quickly and you can put this process behind you! I don't blame you for being frustrated by the obvious inconsistencies in the spousal visa process. It makes no sense and could stand for a ton of improvement. Good luck!

:) Thank you so much sweet heart and I'm so very happy you didn't have to wait as long as we did and thank you for understanding. I'm not the very best at expressing how I feel and make it sound like I want it to. Thank you again and I wish and pray for you and easy and smooth interview. (F) (L) (F)

I agree with soloenta 1000%. Ppl gotta stop complaining about these days when they have been so fortunate with MONTHS. I waited 10.5 months just for the approval so I m sorry if we don't feel sympathetic towards ppl who got approved in 3 4 months( or 22 days in ur case) who say that NVC is slow. We are not upset who got approved before. We just can't take their complains. U wouldn't believe but just by ONE month difference I have been set Back one year in my career. So yeah everybody is frustrated.

(F)(L)(F) Thank you for understanding how I felt. :)

OMG hahahaaaa great way to put it!
