Agghh guys so i called NVC and this weird really low voice guy/girl donno told me the same 30 days thing, so i ask; do you mind telling wich date are they working on now as of today. He paused and very rude said MAY 1st 2012 ( what tha hell) i couldnt stop laughing. Anyways ill call back tonight. My docs were scanned on may 13 th, i hope i get CC today. Anyone k ows which date is bei g worked in today?

Filed taxes as single, but had no idea that we could file MFS AND PUT NRA. I just read on this website. What should I do? If I had to amend it when can I ? Should I just wait til next year when wife comes and has SSN ? Should I do it before her interview? If she's asked should she just tell them I am amending it when she hopefully gets her visa and SSN ? Idk?

We, the Paris Embassy goers, should start our own group

We might end up just join together for the interview, there is a high chance of being on the same day, and it would be nice have someone to chat while waiting on the interview day.

About the backlog, from the moment that USCIS started to get backlogged it was only natural that NVC would become bombard.

Now the question is: Do they select cases according to the Case Complete date or according to the Priority date (time we filed the I-30)?

Does anyone knows?

I'd love to hang with everyone on the interview day I am thinking it is by CC date.

After many, *many*, attempts to call the NVC tonight, I finally got through and spoke to May, who very kindly informed me that our case number was assigned on June 4. She provided me with the IIN, too.

Unfortunately, our assigned embassy is incorrect, as they've routed us to the embassy in my husband's home country, rather than where we currently live (Paris). I fear that getting this corrected will really slow down the process.

Congrats! Where is your husband's home country? Maybe the US Consulate doesn't do visa interviews there.

I think you need to email them to get it changed and from seeing others, it can delay the process. Is it a pain for you to go to Paris?

My husband needs to go to Paris for his interview. Few of us are currently waiting for interview dates still.

I -think- it doesn't matter. They correspond via e-mail rather than snail mail. The DS261 is an outdated form. My wife didn't put her US address. She just listed the abroad one. Hope this helps a bit.

This DS-261 should be made obsolete. They do default to an attorney if listed and bypass it. Why not simply default to a petitioner when an attorney is not listed?

Yup I called. After being on hold for a little over an hour I got a hold of someone and they told me my case was complete. My checklist was scanned in on May 13th. I appreciate everyones help throughout this process so far. It's been a long process, started it last April. Also, congrats to all the others who have received case completes recently.

That should be fine. They'll sober up long before they speak to a live agent anyway... as long as they're not calling the Spanish hotline.

Finally caught up on everything today. And I didn't see one interview date scheduled. Good times. On the other hand, NVC seems to be getting better at reviewing packages. Yay for that!

i don't think NVC prioritizes checklist responses vs normal AOS/IV packages. someone correct me if i'm wrong..

They really should if the wait-to-review time stretches to weeks as is the case now.

Got through to Liz at NVC tonight - just squeaked in before 12 eastern. Explained the situation again with the resubmitted ds261 and said "I understand that there's nothing you can do in your computer, but is there maybe a supervisor I can talk to? She put me back on hold for a minute, but by then of course it was like 12:01 so the supervisor had vamoosed. But she put a note in my file with my original confirmation number (the first time someone's even let me tell it to them!) and said a supervisor would get back to me about it. (Right, and I'm totally going to wait for that! I'm calling Monday!)

So either they'll get back to me, or they'll correct my received date and invoice the darn IV fee already, or it will magically be my turn for an IV fee anyway and they'll invoice the darn IV fee!

In slightly less positive news, my mother in law didn't send me the letter she said she would send yesterday saying that we'll be living with her when we arrive in PDX, so I couldn't email the AOS stuff today either.

Well, at least with EP I can still send it in tomorrow, if we get it then..... Sigh.

Dear all,

Finally I had been received my case number, submitted the DS-261 and pad for AOS fee. And it's just for my case. I still wait for my son's case number. I understand that I only have to pay AOS fee one time for me and my son. But how about AOS package, could you please help me figure out my question:

1. Should I send AOS package right after receiving AOS bill ? and don't have to wait for my son's case number ? And how many I-864 form I must send? Two or only one?

2. Wait until receiving the letter that assigned my son's case number?
