NVC Filers - June 2014

After many, *many*, attempts to call the NVC tonight, I finally got through and spoke to May, who very kindly informed me that our case number was assigned on June 4. She provided me with the IIN, too.

Unfortunately, our assigned embassy is incorrect, as they've routed us to the embassy in my husband's home country, rather than where we currently live (Paris). I fear that getting this corrected will really slow down the process.

This has probably been talked about but I was wondering when they do the security checks. I thought that the uscis stage was for background checks for both people and that NVC was more to collect the necessities. I just don't get why ap exists if they already did the background checks...

I agree with you and I have my theories but rather not say it in open forum.

they pulled that line on me when I was sending letters everyday towards the end. Of course the security checks take you out of the queue and the normal processing timeline no longer applies.

My take on that whole thing is.... My file sat in a dusty corner from April12, 2013 until February 2014 when they decided to pick it up and work on it. Then I was approved on March 18th 2014. Its just another way for them to push you aside but make themselves look good. 11 months I will never get back. and now they are approving files in 5 months ... sometimes less. Makes me sick. and the February 2014 filers are starting to get approved... and those are the people who complain about the long processing times... PUUHHHHLEASSSSSSEEEEEEEE

Two with Japan flags came in one was approved from filing the I-130 to NVC in 22 DAYS! The other took about two weeks form USCIS to NVC. Outrageous!

We are in the same boat as you, our real estate will be more than enough. Just the same, I'm going to include the value of our checking and savings accounts, along with a current statement, just because I figure it is better to have more than enough info. If you aren't using them, I would think either n/a or $0 would both be fine.

With real estate, are you getting an assessment done by a licensed appraiser, or just using tax value on the property?

OK! I'll put "N/A" for the balance of checking and savings accounts.

JeffNJazz, I'm not attaching our checking or savings statement in order to simplify our AOS package (so the reviewer doesn't get confused). We just have too many documents due to including additional documents to demonstrate the US domicile.

I'm including our 2014 property assessment notice from BC Assessment. I'm not sure if your province provides this statement. I'm also including a land title certificate showing we own the property, not a bank. I'm also including a letter from CIBC stating that we have paid off the mortgage.

Actually, we just sold our property, so I'm also including the purchase offer letter too (the US domicile / intention to return). I hope this should be enough. Too many documents, maybe?

In my case yes. I am very upset about it and I don't know what to do any more.... What kind of expedite it is, if they reviewing my docs for 30 days. And situation here is getting worse and worse with every day.

Hi, I'm really sorry about your situation, and that the NVC rep didn't allow you to take the birth certificates to the interview (very inconsiderate, taking into account your situation)

I asked NVC about expediting, and they told me that they only expedite the interview, not the process itself... Meaning that they will give you the interview date sooner, but you still have to wait for CC like everyone else...

I tried to request one myself because of Venezuela's violent political protests and insecurity, but I don't know if it is approved yet.. Obviously Ukraine's situation is much worse, but I can always try, right?

We lived in San Francisco for 10 years, but we thought it was too expensive to buy a house there.

I think that's the main reason why people leave California because it's too expensive unless you and your partner both work and have good jobs.

I guess your right Austin, wish it wasn't so, we have lost a lot of good people freezing their A$$'s off in other states.

Sorry to hear that you got a checklist.

It's strange that I don't see the "annual income" section anywhere in my partner's tax transcript.

However, I see the "total income" section, and I'll be putting this amount on I-864.

Just called NVC (only 1 min on hold for Spanish ) Nothing to report... "wait 30 days..."

The only perk about calling in Spanish is a short time on hold, but the operators seem to be less knowledgeable...

And for some reason they always confirm the entire info (not only names and DOB, but also emails and phone numbers)

Part 5. Sponsor's Household Size (DO NOT COUNT ANYONE TWICE)

If there are only two people (petitioner and beneficiary and no children) in the household, this section looks like:

1. Enter the number you entered on Line 7 of Part 3. : 1

2. Yourself: 1

3. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse.: 0

...

8. Add together lines 1-7 and enter the number here. Household Size: 2

I know I'm not supposed to count the beneficiary twice and the beneficiary is counted at "1. Enter the number you entered on Line 7 of Part 3." so you don't count the same person at "3. If you are currently married, enter "1" for your spouse". Just double checking!
