VENTTT VENNTT AWAY!!!!! I'm pissed too. I've told my husband, sometimes I'm tempted to divorce him and bring him as a boyfriend, because even the fiance visas are getting approved quick. BUUUTTT with my luck by the time i do that, we'd probably get the interview date right away. When was your case complete?

Case Complete 5/16 but I sent everything March 7 and they held it on someone's desk til then.

If they invited you there would be less for them!

I'm confused did you call the Embassy in France or NVC? If NVC obtuse or is it the Embassy? I would call not e-mail and if you received a response that quickly then it must have been the Embassy and they are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. You really need to call unfortunately.

Wow wow wow! Sorry! I must have been pretty tired when I wrote that message! I did email the embassy this morning, not NVC ( I already call NVC every day...). As you said, to get an answer to an inquiry THAT fast, it can't be the NVC!!

PRS joke of the day : two different answers from the embassy about the same subject / question. The first one told me it's up to the NVC to schedule the appointment and then the NVC will forward them our files. The second one told me that they need to receive the files from NVC and then they will schedule an interview date for us.

Good thing the NVC is not AT ALL "waiting for the embassy to schedule the interview" so they can send them out files, right?!

Timeline

I'm thinking they pull batches of files and divide them up between officers (an unknown amount of officers with an unknown amount of files). Some officers work faster than others. This could likely be the reason for the date discrepancy.

As I've been typing all week, when people call, they can try to find out what date they're working on. Granted, we'll get a range of dates from the various people who call, because they're probably working on a range of dates. And, some Agents lie. Someone whose signature states their IV was scanned in on the 15th found out last night that they are getting a check list. So, they're probably working on the 13th-15th, which sounds reasonable. But, this is all conjecture.

Completely agree with you bdrew. In my observation of this process, I don't think NVC reps get an official notice of what day (received, scanned, etc.) they are currently working on. The operators that do venture to give a day are either estimating based on the cases they get to look up each day in their system, or guessing, or lying. I believe we get a better idea here in VJ because we get to see a broader sample of cases scattered throughout different dates.

That's why it's important to keep our timelines and signatures up to date, to help our fellow members coming after us . Just like many of us are already doing. :D

And here I was all worried about learning French in time for our trip to Montreal... or at least having a good translation app... good to know I'll be able to get by with just English

I've been to Montreal three times and didn't speak French except for "Bonjour" and "Bonsoir".

I was a little disappointed (but relieved at the same time) since I took a French class and read "French for Dummies".

ME TOOOOOOOO and yes... you probably are the only other CR file. What a small world since we are both on VJ...

If we get interviews on the same day, I'll buy a round of shots for you and your hubby afterwards !!

Hey Saylin...

There is a business opportunity here for designing and selling buttons for VJ members to recognize each other at consulates and future gatherings. I'll chime in a few suggestions:

"Saylin Thru"

"Joey Stinks"

"Blessed by Soloenta"

Also, that signature blue dye can go viral in no time.

As long as you know some of the basics, you should be able to scrape by like I did

:jest: Should I start up a little online shop with buttons and shirts?

Although, I'm thinking that's somehow against the TOS if I start advertising the link here...

I know what you mean. The same thing happened in USCIS, and when I sent in my packet to NVC they took FOREVER to review it. I'm so depressed, I'm even thinking that he won't be here for Christmas. We've talked that if we don't have an interview by November, I'm just going to move there.

Just a quick question about contacting the NVC. I am trying to go through Google Voice inside my gmail account. I have been pressing redial for an hour and a half, a few hundred times. It's not going through at all. Is it not possible to call the NVC with Google Voice? (This is the ideal option, as it's free and I'm out of the country.)

Thank you.
