Well, my partner's tax transcript shows "$0" at "Total Income" under "Income".

I believe it's because he works outside of the US (the US and Canada have a tax treaty) so his income wasn't taxable in the US since he paid his income tax in Canada. I'll need to use the amount at "Wages, Salaries, Tips, Etc" under "Income". I hope it's okay. Fingers crossed!

Hi Austin! :content:

Same here, total income shows "0.00". However, I thought that it was mandatory to put the "total income" line in the I-864, not the wages and salaries one... therefore we put 2013, 2012 and 2011 income as "0.00"... We mentioned this in an explanation letter, mentioning that my husband's income wasn't really zero, but since it was foreign it is not taxable, therefore we had to put 0.00 because the form asks for the total income line.

Everybody here has mentioned that NVC is very finicky with this matter, and they checklist you if the numbers don't match exactly with the total income line (for 1040 filers), even if you round up the numbers and they are different for one cent...

In this case, I believe that you should put 0.00 in previous years, and at 'current annual income' you type the number that appears on the employment letter of your partner's new Job...You could explain this in an additional letter... And we got a joint sponsor just in case...

At least that's what we did.. I can only advise from my own experience, at the moment I googled the issue and searched in threads, and I understood that that's the way to do it... Hopefully I'm not wrong, because I already sent my package and it could generate a checklist if incorrect :(

Maybe Saylin (the expert) has advice? :)

This worries me a bit... :cry2:

I-751 August 2016 filer. 10-year Green card received on Aug 2017.

N-400 (Naturalization) July 2017 filer. Oath Ceremony: November 2nd 2017.

Soloenta,

if you haven't dealt with the U.S embassy yet get ready for some nasty incompetent people. My I-129F was approved about 2 months ago and was sent to the embassy. Now since my I-130 is approved I have to go through NVC. Anyways wait til you deal with tip you get to the embassy. I have filed a complaint against with my congressman regarding one lady in particular. If you ever deal with "Saurelle" either hang up or record your conversation or save your chat.

Situation 1: When verifying my wife's information on their website (since we had no communication with the embassy whatsoever regarding next step in the process) she asked for her email address. When I provided the address she said that is wrong we cannot go any further, she wouldn't share any information (although all the important information like passport number, DOB, home address etc I answered correctly) I flipped out on her and told her I will be contacting her supervisor she relented and we continued. Out of curiosity I asked what email address does the application show? Her answer? Remember this is over the phone........ ATTENTIONINVALIDEMAILADDRESS is what she spelled out to me! Unbelievable right!!

Moving on: Situation 2 Different day

She incorrectly spelled 3 out of 5 names in my wife's full name and she put as date of birth Wednesday 22, 1984

When asked to correct the errors, she got better by only misspelling her last name.

Situation 3: Chat online again for case status about why we have had no communication about how to schedule a visa interview(* I provided my NVC case number and other pertinent information* prior to her response) she told me "In order to bring your wife over to the U.S. you must first file an application through USCIS".

AWESOME JUST AWESOME huh!! So when i told her yes i have done that already and have an approved I-129f at the embassy, she promptly closed the chat window!

I'm getting a headache just thinking about her..

Just called NVC and have a case number! File received 6 may and case number assigned 30 May. At last I can start something! To SMOOCHIES....I am so sorry for your pain. My strength in this process has been my husband (who is in Panama). Keep your head up. Remember that this process is TEMPORARY. Your relationship is the most important thing! I will be in Panama all of JULY.

That should be sent in with the AOS package. But, if you've already sent that in, yes bring proof of extension to the interview because if you don't, you'll be put into AP for missing documentation as 2013 taxes are required.

Well, we do have casual Friday, just not sure if it's THAT casual

It's a little sad that has to even be discussed here as it states right on that question, on the form, EXACTLY what number to use. Still baffles me how people are confused as which number to use as it is RIGHT THERE

Not really, it's being so scared of waiting even longer after USCIS and specially if they stuck you in the Nebraska Service Center. I know it's annoying but at the same time I understand their fear. Just saying. :(

I understand the fear of not doing something right, but it states right in the question, between the question number and where you start inputting the numbers EXACTLY what amount to use. If one asks here, they're going to get the exact same information (if given the right answer anyways) as it already states on the form.

I just talked to Waldo and got the IIN! I now have both the case number and IIN.

Even though my case number was assigned 10 days ago (May 23), Waldo said there was nothing I could do now until I receive an email from NVC asking me to fill out DS-261 and pay the AOS fee. He said that I would receive the email sometime this week.

I thought I was taking a vacation too long and my case was getting delayed. Well, that wasn't the case at all! :wow: I'm so glad I didn't cut my vacation short!

Why don't you try to get into the website just in case he might be wrong and you might be able to get in and start the process now. Give it a try. ;)(F)(L)(F)
