Hi all,

I'm ready to send the package (content below) today and want to go over it with you before I do so.
It's based on a marriage to a US citizen.

- N-400 application: filled and signed
- Photocopy (front & back) of Permanent Resident Card
- 2 identical photographs with name and A# written lightly in pencil on the back
- 1 check ($680.00) payable to Department of Homeland Security with A# on back
- Spouse’s birth certificate
- Current marriage certificate
- IRS joint Tax Returns for years 2011, 2012, 2013
- Statement of joint account (May 2013, November 2013, May 2014)
- Mortgage statement 5/15/2013
- Child's Certificate of Birth Registration

- G-1145 application: filled and signed

Saw other applicants sending more papers, should I add the following or no need to bother?
- Copy of drivers license (front and back)
- Insurance (home or car)
- Electric bill

Does anyone know how far out the biometrics appointments are scheduled? I'm expecting my letter in the mail next week, and am going on vacation in July. How hard is it to reschedule, should they give me a date that conflicts with my vacation?

I just took a quick look at the May filers and seems like the biometrics appointment is approximately a month (give or take a week) after sending the package.

Don't know the process for rescheduling, but I remember from last year or even a few years ago, people going to get biometrics much sooner than their appointment. Maybe this means that you can go get your biometrics before you go on vacation?

Surely someone more knowlegable can give a better suggestion.

Copamom,

I don't think I've ever done a biometrics on the day it was scheduled (ROC and two reentry permits). At the time I used to live in Scottsdale, AZ and I went to the Phoenix office as a walk-in every time. I think it might have helped that I was pregnant and/or had little kids with me I went but they were always accommodating. If you have a vacation planned and it will conflict with your appointment I'd just show up when they open with the proof of the trip and the appt letter. The worse that can happen is to be turned away and perhaps have to reschedule.

Thanks koucki and Alix, that's helpful. I can't even remember what I did for my green card (it was 9 years ago). I'll just wait and see what appointment time/date they give me and go from there.

Can someone update my info? One of my checks was cashed Wednesday. For some reason, the other one still hasn't been cashed, but I did receive two emails and two texts, so I assume all is well with the paperwork (one for me and one for my (adult) daughter).

I got my biometrics appointment letter, it's dated on June 10th, and my appointment on June 30th, but I'll be early walk in this Monday June 15th.

USCIS
Sep 4th 2014: Filed I-130 petition as an LPR
Nov 24th 2014: I took my oath and i became a US Citizen
Dec 5th 2014: I faxed, mailed and called USCIS to UPGRADE my Case to a USC filling for am immediate relative.
Dec 25th 2014: I received a letter from USCIS asking me to fax a copy of my naturalization which is I did before.
Dec 26th 2014: I faxed a copy of my naturalization, copy of NOA1.
Jan 28th 2015: I called USCIS to ask about my upgrade, and the NO SENSE customer service doesn't know anything
Feb 4th 2015: I got an email that my case was transferred to local office for an interview.
Feb 24th 2015: I had a INFOPASS and they told me this interview about my Ex-Wife.
May 19th 2015: another INFOPASS asking why is it taking all this time to schedule an interview.
​May 30th 2015: I contacted Congresswoman and she contacted the USCIS los angeles office on my behalf and she asked me to wait 30 days
June 25th 2015: I received an email from the Congresswoman that i was scheduled for an Interview on July 6th
June 6th 2015: I had a interview and my case was approved.
June 8th 2015: I got an email from USCIS that my case was transferred to the NVC
June 8th 2015: I called USCIS to find out that my case was never upgraded from LPR to USC



NVC
July 14th 2015: NVC received case
July 14th 2015: I emailed and mailed a Copy of naturalization and the NOA2 to the NVC to upgrade my petition to USC
Aug 3rd 2015: Case # & Invoice ID # received via phone. (Case# assigned same day)
Aug 4th 2015: DS-261 available on website\Submitted DS-261
Aug 5th 2015: AOS Invoice available on website/Paid AOS Invoice
Aug 5th 2015: NVC accepted DS-261 (Confirmed via phone)
Aug 6th 2015: Paid IV fee
Aug 7th 2015: all fees show PAID.
Aug 7th 2015: Filled DS260 and completed.
Aug 7th 2015: I called NVC and they told Case still show F2A.
Aug 14th 2015: I mailed AOS/IV Package
Aug 17th 2015: NVC received AOS/IV package.
Aug 19th 2015: Scan Date.
Aug 20th 2015: Case was upgraded from LPR(F2A) to USC(CR1/IR1) (over the phone)
Sep 25th 2015: Case Complete (over the phone) (3 N/A on the website)
Oct 2nd 2015: scheduled for interview via email
Nov 3rd 2015 : interview date (APPROVED)

Hi all,

Finally! We'll be filing our N-400 this month (for my wife, married to me (US Citizen)). I've posted what we filed below (in case it helps), but also wonder:

What's the compilation process for the packet? Do we need to two-hole-punch and file everything on full sheets like the K1 / I785? Is there any specific way to compile the packet that we should know about?

Thanks for any answers there!

In our packet, we have enclosed:

  • Form G-1145 - eNotification of petition

  • Cover letter

  • N400 + Payment with A# on front / notes field

  • Photocopies of permanent resident card

  • Two color photographs (placed in an envelope; that fit the criteria required and with name + A# on back)

  • The inside and front cover pages of passport for US citizen

  • Current marriage certificate

  • Evidence, including:

    • Internal Revenue Services transcript for 2010, 2011 and 2012

    • Tax return for 2013

    • Joint bank account statements for past six months

    • Apartment rental contract

    • Renter’s Insurance contract

    • Car Insurance contract

Looking forward to sending this (via USPS priority or second-day) to the Texas filing center, return receipt requested... hopefully to send tomorrow!
