What's the proposed wait time for the interview date letter? I was placed in-line for interview on July 18 and haven't received my interview letter yet. I checked the processing time for NYC and it said that they're still working on December applications. Is it me or all the processing have slowed down significantly? I was hoping to get my interview done before the year is up. Any chance of this happening? Congrats and good luck to those who will be going on their interviews soon.

For those of you waiting for interview letter - has anyone scheduled an InfoPass to find out why the delay or contacted their local congressman/woman to see if they can help?

USCIS goal is to process application in about 5 months and June filers are still within 5 month period so you may not get any concrete answers.

I understand if they schedule interview in month 4 then you may have oath in month 5 and be able to complete within that timeframe.

This thought cross my mind yesterday... We saw how fast interviews were scheduled just a few months ago and now everything seems to be frozen... Could it be that these delays are because elections are very close and they don't want new citizens voting? (or perhaps this sounds too crazy).

I think that has been discussed in earlier threads. There is a presumption that new citizens tend to be more democratic than republican but either way, am guessing that USCIS is not swayed by internal politics and just focus on it's mission which is to ensure qualified individuals are sworn-in as citizens!!!

I personally find it unnecessary and the spreadsheet is large enough as is.

Thanks for feedback. Anyone else ?

I'm not a member of this thread so feel free to ignore, but there is a seperate forum for US Passports (bottom of the Citizenship forum page). Why not start a "Passports for June 2014 N-400s" thread there? That'll help future passport applicants too, because that's where the July and August filers are going to look as soon as their N400s are approved. You guys could start a new thread trend. If you advertise it on this thread, you should be able to get most people to participate and it won't affect the applicants who'll still be on here waiting for interviews while you guys are posting about your passports.

I saw that sub forum but there wasn't meaningful activity but it's probably the appropriate forum and will start a thread.

Yeah, it seems underused. Maybe people just stop coming to VisaJourney after they've got their nat. certificates.

You could also start a table on here and just make it separate from the main table... update it separately. Up to you guys.

Congrats! Come back and post your Oath experience.

Now that we have had couple of interviews and Oath, June filers will be busy filing for US passport in the next few months...

What do you all think about adding another tracker for US passports to this thread since almost everyone in the June thread will be applying for US passports.

Passport applications are rather different. One can use an expediter (third party) or go in person and get their passport in a day at a regional office. They can expedite their application by paying the fee and get it in a couple of weeks or they can just go the regular route and wait a little longer.

I may actually need to use an expediter which will cost a few hundred dollars on top of the application and DOS expedite fee. My naturalization interview is October 3rd and we travel on a cruise in early November. If my oath is before the cruise, I really need the passport at least 5 days before the cruise so I can provide my passport information to the cruise line. This is cutting it real close.

I really wish I could have gone to my first interview scheduled on September 2nd. This is causing me unneeded stress. I could always try to delay my oath if it is scheduled too close to the cruise travel dates.
