OK, so here's how it went down:

I turned up at the federal building in St Louis about 20 mins prior to my interview. I slipped the appointment letter into the slot provided, and was called right on time.

From the second the lady IO swore me in, the whole experience was positive and pleasant. I instantly knew that I'd passed, which made the whole process a breeze. She smiled and said "I don't think you're going to have too much of a problem with this" as she asked me to read a sentence and write "California has a lot of people" on the piece of paper provided.

I was then asked the following six questions:

There are four amendments to the Constitution about who can vote - describe one of them.

If the President can no longer serve, who becomes President?

Who is in charge of the executive branch?

How old do citizens have to be to vote for president?

What is one reason colonists came to America?

Name two national US holidays.

She then went through the formality of asking me the questions on the N-400 form, actually apologizing for having to do so! And here's where the hitch occurred. Everybody familiar with the eternal speeding ticket debate? Well, I had one four years ago, and I mentioned as much on the N-400. I actually kept the ticket, along with proof of the defensive driving course they had me take as to avoid the offence ever appearing on my driving record. However, that was not enough, and she insisted that I needed something from the courthouse concerned stating that the matter had been dealt with. So many other people have said that their IO wasn't bothered about it but mine was. I explained that it was four years ago and it had never gone to court and as such, they probably didn't haven't any record of it. To her absolute credit, she altered her wording on the N-14 form (that's the one they give you when further documentation is required) stating that if there was no official record, that a letter stating as much on headed paper would suffice. As it goes, I went to the courthouse concerned, and incredibly, all she had to do was type in the four-year-old ticket number and hey presto, up it popped!! Keep all your speeding tickets, folks!!! I returned to the USCIS office with the required documentation the next day (today) and now it's just the a case of waiting for the oath ceremony.

Really was a an absolute breeze - a most pleasant experience. We were chatting about current affairs, movies etc by the end of it!

Of course I can - all of them!!! It's standard procedure.

Both my parents had their interview today. Interview was at 8.30am and we arrived around 8am.

The USCIS office has plenty of parking spaces.

No food or water allowed. Cell phone are to be muted or in vibrate mode.

Once you pass through security, you then arrive at the receptionist who provides a token number and you'll be called based on that number. Parents were given different token numbers.

They were called by two different USCIS officers for separate interviews.

The interview process took about 15-20 minutes and both had positive experience.

They were asked to verify their name, phone number and address. USCIS officers went over most of the questions on the N-400 application and specifically focussed on the ones we had answered YES.

Did you ever not file taxes? we answered YES and provided a written statement and the officers wanted to know why we did not file taxes etc.

My mom had a slightly different experience. The officer who interviewed asked her about her 800+ days outside the US and several trips she had taken, wanted to know why etc and at the end seemed convinced that Mom had strong ties to US.

Once their interview was over and they were approved, both requested expedited Oath due to impending travel.

They were asked to wait in the waiting area and after about 15 minutes were told as there was an Oath scheduled this coming Friday(9/26) they were being assigned to that. Shortly after that we got a printout of the Oath letters.

We were out by 10AM.

He did, he was asked about all the questions on the N-400. The officer always go through all questions to make sure everything is right.

That is extremely amazing report. Now I can surmise (which I REALLY doubt it) that USCIS is not handling N-400 application on FCFS basis.

My application was sent weeks before your parents’, first week of May to be exact, and don't even have anything received yet, unless there are tons of applicants from my alien city or there is missing information on my papers.

But why is it that on your log the taking of oat is recorded as 09/26/2014, while your schedule is 09/24/2014, which is today?

I AM CONFUSED, BUT I AM NOT BLIND!

Both my parents had their interview today. Interview was at 8.30am and we arrived around 8am.

The USCIS office has plenty of parking spaces.

No food or water allowed. Cell phone are to be muted or in vibrate mode.

Once you pass through security, you then arrive at the receptionist who provides a token number and you'll be called based on that number. Parents were given different token numbers.

They were called by two different USCIS officers for separate interviews.

The interview process took about 15-20 minutes and both had positive experience.

They were asked to verify their name, phone number and address. USCIS officers went over most of the questions on the N-400 application and specifically focussed on the ones we had answered YES.

Did you ever not file taxes? we answered YES and provided a written statement and the officers wanted to know why we did not file taxes etc.

My mom had a slightly different experience. The officer who interviewed asked her about her 800+ days outside the US and several trips she had taken, wanted to know why etc and at the end seemed convinced that Mom had strong ties to US.

Once their interview was over and they were approved, both requested expedited Oath due to impending travel.

They were asked to wait in the waiting area and after about 15 minutes were told as there was an Oath scheduled this coming Friday(9/26) they were being assigned to that. Shortly after that we got a printout of the Oath letters.

We were out by 10AM.

No, I turned 18 at the beginning of the year so my mom claims me as a dependent and I had never had a job until recently

If, and only if, this filer/applicant has not been filling taxes for some reason, I suggest to please DO NOT attempt to make tax returns amendments because it would be obvious; instead, be honest and answer the IO from the bottom of your heart. If asked by mail to furnish tax returns, then answers it honestly in writing, or start recalling your yearly income and hire a tax accountant to file and amend your tax returns. Late tax filing requires tax amendment. And there will penalty, and interest if you owe the IRS, imposed per tax year ended.

Depending on the state you live in, there is also State tax to be settled as well.
