you are absolutely right ,but my card is on their hand ,so i have to play under their rules .My no criminal record expired too because it took so long to complete my case ,I just hope they do not want a new one from my country

I hope so too. It will take some time to get a new one and send it. It doesn't count when they reviewed the RFE and all that stuff. Keep us updated.

Actually as far as my knowledge, the local USCIS offices are handled I-485. It depends how busy the local offices are. Many of people who adjust from K-1 visas are approved faster because of their local USCIS offices were not busy as others.

Got my Green Card today in the mail. It's physically in my hands. Finally done. In 10 days it will be my 1 year anniversary in the USA. We've moved things along as quickly as we could so it took us 11.5 months to get the GC. What a relief.

Just finished talking to a lady from USCIS on the phone. I used Military Help Line - since the regular number takes forever- and few minutes later I got answered. The lady from USCIS, Ashley, checked my case and I was right. The I-485 is processing at local USCIS offices which for me is in Kendall. She checked and told me that my application is still in normal processing times and they are still working for May Filers 2014.

I just need waited in next month and we will see if there is a change.

You know that as a NPIW case, local office processing times are completely irrelevant to your case, don't you?

I told her that I have received NPIW back in September 2014 and she said the local offices are processing application for I-485. The reason why I received the letter because it shows how busy the local offices are. At least that what she told me. If they were not busy, applicants tend to get interview scheduled.

Just for comparison, if all applicants who adjusting from K-1 visas are processing at Nebraska Service Center, why some of them were received NPIW and some of them were not? Would you care to explain this odds to me?

My friend already received her green card back in October 2014 and she filed at same time with me. Last time I checked her local USCIS office, they were not as busy as in Kendall.

The thing to remember is that it won't be (or is extremely unlikley to be) your local office that will process your case. The cases are sent in bundles to offices that have spare staff / capacity to process them. Your case could well end up being processed in San Diego, New York City, San Francisco or any other office in the country.

The key question to ask A TIER 2 officer is 'Has my case left the NBC and been transferred to a local office yet?'. Once this happens you're probably about 30 to 60 days from an approval.

Ignore the Nebraska Service Center thing. My case says on the online tracker that it's there. It's not, never has been and never will be. It's an error.

You're welcome! The people in the Notice of Potential Interview Waiver Case thread know lots about this subject and are so happy to help. Perhaps you should post more to that thread than the June 2014 thread. Good luck!

Yes Derwood is correct. Cases have NEVER been at Nebraska that is an error.

What really happens is the file stays at the NBC for months and then one fine day they send out a load of files to different field offices, whichever has the capacity to deal with them. You could be living in Ohio but find your file is might now be in California. Once it leaves the NBC, if ever, it takes around 30 to 60 days until approval, that is if you're lucky enough not to get a late RFE for a new medical or such. It's all pretty random and depends on who looks at your file as to whether or not you get an RFE, there is no standard set of rules with it all!

Yeah sweet Val isn't having a good time of it lately, but she isn't the norm as far as RFE's go. If you do get an RFE then its normally just for a missing document or to update vaccines. I just think Val was unfortunate to get an RFE for court records that don't exist!

You do have an option to send a service request or write to the ombudsman or contact a congress/senate person. Service requests however normally come back saying that there is a delay and the AOS procedure is now taking 9 to 12 months, although I know a few people waiting much longer!
