Just checking in to say hi to all of you! Happy to hear so many of you have received your EAD, hope the job hunt is going well! I'm finally feeling like I can 'fit in' here - helps having coworkers who are slowly becoming friends! Husband and I are still thinking about someday moving back to Singapore...but the more we start to build a life here, the more unlikely that option seems. Oh well...

And I think this is maybe something only girls can understand...but one of the worst things I found about having to adjust was having to find a new nail salon, hair dresser, etc. It is so challenging finding someone who understands exactly what you want and who can do it. So far I've managed to find a hairdresser I like and just yesterday I walked in to a nail salon by chance just 2 minutes from work and they were awesome - just like the pedicures I got back home where they really scrub and clean - yay!

Hope you guys are all adjusting okay and hugs to anyone who's having a harder time - it will get easier over time. (F)

30 questions? I thought it would be more like the k1 visa interview

That's because not everyone who posts here is actually adjusting from a family based visa (i.e. K1, K2, K3 or K4). Many K1s might not even have to attend an interview at all. For those of us adjusting from a K1, if we are called for an interview, the interview typically would not be as detailed/robust - because our relationships have already been vetted at the embassy interview already. There may be some exceptions but generally K1s have an easier time with AOS. That is also why no "relationship" evidence is needed when we send in our I-485 package apart from the marriage certificate. :)

if you're adjusting from a K1, you might not even get an interview. :)

with no interview - generally 8-12 months until the greencard arrives in the mail

with interview - depends on how quickly your local office processes I-485 applications (can vary from as quickly as 2-3 months to 10-12 months)

Hello,

I sent in out AOS in JUNE, USCIS got it on June 24th. Completed our finger prints on July 17th, since then the status is in ACCEPTENCE. I called USICS and they said they are working on application from Dec. 19th 2013 at this time. I'm guessing it will be another 6 to 8 months before we can get our Green Card??

Just got done with the AOS interview. It's now under administrative processing. I think the IO is just being thorough but I have talked to my lawyer and there shouldn't be any issues. Still, not getting immediate approval sucks. I just have to live my life and wait for now. At least I got my EAD/AP card and can have a life in the meantime.

Check my timeline for K-1 visa & AOS details

We're still stuck at when they got our RFE in August... at least I have my EAD but I'll have to get my drivers license before thinking about working.

Did anyone manage to get their ID with their EAD card? Or get their drivers license?

Had our interview today. The lady that handled our case was awesome beyond belief.she was really nice and basically asked questions about us before and after we got married. She approved us on the spot and we were so happy and greatful to God for favours. Wish all of you the best and believe you will be approved.
